+ve : Large family room, two bathrooms. Central in Rjukan with easy parking. -ve : very very tired interior. Like stepping back into the 70's or 80's. Cleanliness passable, but it certainly didn't feel very clean. Breakfast disappointing. In short very overpriced for what you get. Have heard that the climbers hostel in a Rjukan is excellent as are the... More

Stayed 1 night here in an enormous family room which had 2 bathrooms. Free parking round the corner and good central location. Plenty to do in Rjukan and the surrounding area, but few places to eat, especially on a Sunday and we couldn't bring ourselves to eat in the " cafe Ammonia" attached to the hotel, because of the off-putting... Rooms ok. Nice breakfast and restaurant. Front desk and room service excellent. The place has a lot of character. Park Hotel Rjukan is not for the traveller expecting an international standard of luxury, If you are, however, comfortable in a slightly run down environment, my bet is that you will find Park Hotel Rjukan a pleasant and unique experience. This can be the ugliest hotel we have ever stayed. I couldn't believe it is in Norway where you would expect better standard. For the price of 900 plus kroner or 128 kr a night for 2, it is in my opinion "highway robbery". I suggest those who would like to visit Gaustatoppen and Krossobanen i Rjukan should find another... Old hotel that could be good with lots of upgrading and work I'm sure it could have character but there was very little when we were there. Staff helpful and polite. Breakfast generous. Dinner in restaurant not worth trying did not cater for vegetarians ( I could have done much better from the supermarket next door )

This hotel was awful. Fire alarms going off in the middle of the night, the rooms were cold with bad heating, bathroom was old and not cleaned properly and the general decor was shabby. We stayed with a group and the general opinion was that it was bad and they wouldn't stay again. The staff were really helpful but overworked... More
