We arrived here at 2pm soaking wet after walking for five hours in the rain. The hotel is in two halves on opposite sides of the street and we were "upgraded" to a small suite in a converted cellar. The decoration was strange to say the least and showering in half a wine barrel a little odd. But apart from... More

My wife and I and 2 other couples spent a week on a walking holiday in Chianti. We spent one night at this wonderful small hotel (but wished we could have spent more time here). Donatella was very welcoming and helpful and offered us tea or coffee as soon as we arrived. Our bedrooms were very comfortable, spacious and tastefully... More

After a day of wine tasting in the chianti region, Castellare de' Noveschi was a wonderful place to spend the night. It's in the remote and tiny village of San Sano- not in Gaiole as I had originally believed- so be prepared to find this little village nestled near Gaiole. The room we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous, with a... More

We originally booked for 2 nights but stayed 3 and it was a highlight for sure. Beautiful tiny wee village with this awesome Trattorie that served you whenever it suited, with such good value food and wine. Had THE best Caprese salad of our whole trip to Italy. We had the junior suite, with a 4 poster bed and stone... More

What a charming and beautiful hotel in a lovely little village. We only stayed for one night as we were on a walking holiday, but the whole place and staff were so charming we wished we'd booked an extra night. I think we had a 'standard' room - there was nothing standard about it - spacious, comfortable, and beautifully furnished... More

We just stayed here three nights as part of our honeymoon. We booked a junior suite, but when we arrived they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. It was the most spectacular, old world, romantic room I've ever seen. Our hostess was so warm and welcoming. She recommended a restaurant and made reservations for us for dinner, which was incredible.... More

Our second visit 5 years on to this lovely quiet place in the rolling vined hills of Chianti in the tiny old village of San Sano. The staff are amazing - Donatella and Alice made the experience extra special - even put flowers and a card in the room for my birthday! The rooms are all beautifully decorated in medieval... More

We only spent one night but wished that we had booked it for 2-3 nights. The room was fabulous and a classic looking Italian room. There isn't much to do in San Sano proper, but that's probably the point.

Stayed here for 3 nights and booked the junior suite. The suite was very clean. It did have two different set of steep stairs. The bathroom was a bit inconvenient. The bathtub did not have a shower head which slowed us down in getting ready for the day. The mirror was placed really high which was difficult for a petite... More

The most wonderful place to honeymoon! My wife and I can't say enough to express how amazing our stay was. Barbara made our stay perfect with the personal touch. The vineyards and olive trees made it feel like a little piece of paradise.
