We were here for a mini-reunion of sorts (organized by a college friend of my husband's and his Italian wife), and found it completely enchanting. We actually stayed in "Mirto," which is an apartment in a house on the grounds and not in the castle itself, but were able to walk around inside the castle during the day and early... More

Our stay at Castello di Tornano was a quintessential Italian countryside visit. While the castle and the grounds were amazing, our private cooking class was a trip topper! We enjoyed learning how to make a traditional Chianti meal and dessert. The chef and asst. chef did an amazing job adding to the menu since everything wasn't a preference for my... More

We booked our stay here through Secret Escapes and got a fabulous deal for the room, air travel and car hire. It was a long weekend break for us Thursday until Monday. Needless to say on Monday we didn't want to leave. The hotel is two hours from Pisa airport and has an idyllic rural location in the Chianti Hills.... More

This was a repeat visit for us and we arranged our itinerary to accommodate. Tornano has slipped in service. Did not have available the specific apartment we had requested and sent deposit for. (Alas, no special, private romantic view). Still, it is very quiet and quintessential Tuscany. Excellent wine from their own vineyards. Had some shipped home. Dinner served al... More

The staff was fantastic, we are older and when we found our bathroom was down some narrow stairs the manger quickly moved us to another lovely room. The surroundings are picturesque and the grounds have everything you would want in a castle. Also the food is delicious; our lunch was served on our patio and dinner was served outside under... More

I don't know where else you could stay in the heart of Chianti for 100 euros a night with the flexibility of self catering, dining at the hotel or having a nightcap in the delightful castle lounges. Yes it's rustic and a bit quirky. You have a restaurant that's almost an afterthought, tucked in to one of the side buildings,... More

We stayed spontaneously at the end of our 10 night Italy trip. Stayed in a "superior castle" room (Romeo & Juliette). The bed was very firm (too firm) and was just a glorified cot inside a bed frame (the mattress was not in the bed frame, no box spring). We totally forgot about the road leading to the castle. It's... More

I tried to book my place of preference Fonte de Medici. Unfortunately, there was a bicycle race in Florence that weekend and the apartment I wanted was booked. This place was highly rated, so I chose here. After my visit, I feel misled - 4.5 stars - really???? 3.5 on its best day. First off - the staff tried very... More

"+" : Fantastic place...nice view, beautiful swimming pool and very romantic! The staff very helpful! Wifi connection 5stars! "-" The restaurant menu it doesn't have too many options. You get what they give...wich is not so bad, but if you expect to have a romatic dinner...run away!
