castello vertine is near Gaiole in Chianti, but is a world apart. It is a medieval castle in a tiny village (you need to drive through a very narrow gate but a van CAN make it), and is very quiet and serene. We stayed there with a visiting friend in April and liked it so much we brought another visitor... More

We stayed just one night at Castello di Vertine and it was not enough! It is at the end of a medieval village and the B&B is really in a medieval castle, very well maintained and this comes together in an interesting mix with the contemporary art that decorates the castle and the grounds. Gioia is a great host, the... More

Amazing views and pool cut into mountain side! Very large rooms in a real castle. Extremely quiet. Uniquely decorated by artist owners. Good breakfast, very helpful staff. Challenging driveway and drive through this medieval town, but worth it.

When do you get the chance to stay in an 11th century castle? We absolutely loved our stay here. The castle is located in a very small hamlet of Vertine and about a 10 minute drive from Gaiole in Chianti. It is in an amazing and peaceful location overlooking olive trees and vineyards in the valleys below. The views are... More

Waking up here is a surreal experience as the accommodation is straight out of a historical romance. The rooms are traditionally furnished in impeccable taste, so you feel like you're in a fairytale - except you have all modern amenities. The castle is small for a castle, but it's a genuine castle, and it's size means you feel that it's... More

This B&B and its' surrounding quaint almost medieval village looks like it came off a well maintained movie set. My wife and I stayed in one of the top floor rooms and the view of the surrounding countryside from the window was "storybook" and unbelievably serene. I was struck by the spaciousness of the castle B&B. Our room was huge,... More

Vertine is a fantastic small (very small) village up on the hill above Gaiole in Chianti, one of the famous villages in the wine region south-west of Florence. Two old towers and a few houses, surrounded by walls, all in whitish stone, very typical. The relais is located in one of the two towers, dating XI (yes, eleventh!) century. What... More

I was here with my fiance for a week in the summer of '12 Overall we had a fantastic time! The rooms in this medevil castle are spacious, comfortable, and extremely elegant. Joy, the owner, was very accommodating to our every need and request. She suggested excellent places to eat and visit. It was also nice to simply stay on... More
