A peaceful retreat amid acres of vineyards. Not far along winding country roads from the old town of Alcamo. Comfortable and clean bedroom. Plentiful traditional Sicilian cooking, with Filippo's prize wine. We had a chilled Chardonnay each evening. Filippo's recommendation of a visit to the Temple of Segesta and the high altitude town of Erice made a good day out,... More

Agriturismo Tarantola is everything we wanted: beautifully situated in rolling wine country, quiet and peaceful, and run by kind smiling people who do everything in their power to make guests happy. We loved the morning we spent with them learning to roll pasta one length at a time, grind fresh pesto straight from the basil, mint and parsley plants, and... More

My wife and I spent two wonderful days in Tarantola enjoying the scenery, the wine, the food, and the company - including our host Filippo, chef Rino, and Barbara. The property is simply stunning with acres and acres of vineyards and produce for you to walk through and enjoy. The view from atop the mountain is breathtaking and you won't... More

What a fabulously relaxing few days we spent at Agriturismo Tarantola. It is so peaceful here and the perfect place to spend our first few days as a newly engaged couple. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable, and is surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see. It is a very beautiful place to take a stroll... More

We have stayed here for 3 nights and loved every part of it! The hosts, Filippo and Barbara and the chef Rino are amazing. They are very welcoming and kind. The surroundings are peaceful, away from the busy cities and between Filippo's own vineyards and olive trees. Here they make the best wines and olive oil. Make sure you also... More

We tasted and lunched at this wonderful winery. Met Senior Testa of the original 1163 family! The lunch was fantastic and the wines superb! A delightful experience. We recommend a visit! A course meal with 8 different dishes. All made on site.

From the telegraphic and possibly apocryphal but multiply-repeated facts on various blogs and websites, the stunningly ugly term ‘agriturismo’ took off from the mid-1980s, stimulated by a typically Italian combination of generous government tax breaks for smallholders looking to boost flagging business and, of course, a genuine love and respect and – overused word – passion for the land and... We spent two nights at Tarantola and enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff -- Filippo, Rino and Barbara -- went out of their way to make the experience special. I highly recommend taking the cooking course, if only to absorb Rino's enthusiasm for food and its preparation. The whole experience was a rare treat. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I visited Tarantola with my girlfriends and we had a wonderful trip. We stayed for 2 nights in mid-April, and Filippo was an absolutely wonderful host. We arranged a cooking class for us and made sure to accommodate our vegetarian diets. He also took us on a tour of his winery with wine-tastings! The surroundings were beautiful and absolutely breathtaking!... More

We stayed 2 nights at Tarantola beginning of May, and found it very relaxing and nice after having stayed at more touristy places before. All the staff were very friencly and seemed to really care about the guests. The surroundings, with vineyards all over the rolling hills, are so beautiful. The dinners, with full menu, are very good, with Sicilian... More
