Today my 2 daughters and I took a cooking class at Tarantola Agriturismo. Filippo greeted us as we arrived, and made us feel very welcome to his farm. He is a perfect host, providing water and coffee after a long drive. He guided us to the kitchen and eased us into the cooking easily. I thought the cooking would be... More

What a wonderful surprise this agriturisimo was! From the wandering acres of the vineyard, to the inviting lake, and even the friendly goats, and very attentive staff, every moment was delightful. The meals were delicious and lovingly prepared, and not one was a disappointment. Our rooms were very clean and though, as noted by other reviewers, the WiFi was spotty,... More

If you want a slice of the real Sicily then La Tarantola is for you - great hospitality and delicious traditional food made from the very freshest of ingredients. We had a memorable evening with some new-found American friends learning to cook some Sicilian classics: “pannelle”, “sfincione” (Sicilian pizza), fresh pasta from scratch - mixing and kneading the dough and... Thank you Filippo for the hospitality at your beautiful place! We had amazing food and definitely tasted the hart and soul of your restaurant! Good vibes! Will come back for sure if we are on the island again. Also big thanks to the staff in the kitchen who showed us how to cook real, pure Sicilian food! We had a... More

The Vineyard at Taratola! ....what lovely memories! Well, staying here recently made my holiday in Sicily! There was genuine warmth and concern by the staff and owner that everything was as it should be. It was easy going, but well organised. Really nothing was too much trouble as all the staff were genuinely very attentive and welcoming. My Italian was... More

This restaurant was a major disappointment of our wonderful Sicily trip and quite a shame since the food is great. This farm, hard to reach, served some pedestrian foods, including forgettable pasta with specks of veal, store-bought sausages, iceberg lettuce salad in a land of rugula, hard and tasteful fruits, and undistinguished wine. For the price, you can eat better... More

A serious Gap Between Fake and real Food This person was the worst person of all the wonderful people who visit our Sicily. Unfortunately when people have the palate packed with flavor enhancers, use for daily meals frozen raw materials, no longer able to distinguish genuine food from what you normally eat every day. Those who eat fake food is... More

It's quite difficult to describe Tarantola. As the owner Filippo Testa (a Count no less, but clearly a man who loves people) says himself, this is not a luxury hotel. There is no swimming pool, there are no DVD players, no televisions, no wifi in the rooms (thank the lord). The rooms are plain, comfortable, clean. But I challenge anyone... More

Its location is such that it is equal distances from all the main attractions of the region but actually close to nothing at all. A serene setting amongst the vineyards. The room was efficiently furnished, but essentially a concrete box with no shading. Air conditioning was good. The host was interesting and his staff were very keen. The food at... More

Agriturismo Tarantola is a must if you are visiting Sicily. It is a blissful retreat in stunningly beautiful surroundings owned by Conti Filippo who is a very friendly and charming host. The cooking class is definitely worth doing especially considering that you get to eat the gorgeous Sicilian food accompanied by Filippo's excellent wines. I wish I was on the... More

The stay we had at Agriturismo Tarantola was the highlight of our trip to West Sicily. I was travelling with my parents and they had a villa set up for us very close to the main house, in the middle of a vineyard. We did a cooking course with the in-house chef and with the help of the charismatic owner(who... More
