Firendly welcome, comfortable rooms, good value for the money but, above all, a Meister at work with his brigade in the kitchen. This restaurant with its excellent sommelier also offers the possibility of tasting as many wines as the palate can stand from the surrounding Kaiserstühl area - and, even better, rooms in house or across the road to sleep... Did a one night stopover here on our way south. Travelling with kids. Stayed in the Guest House across the street, no connecting rooms but given kids age that wasn't a problem. Rooms are at the back so away from the street. The street can be quite noisy due to traffic so whichever building you're staying in, I'd suggest you... More

We stayed one night in a Deluxe room in the guesthouse opposite the restaurant and main building. The room was modern, clean and comfortable, with a small seating area by the entrance and with windows looking out both sides, at and across the terraced vineyards. The value for money was excellent, with breakfast included in the rate. We had come... More

A delightful hotel in a classic German town. You have the feel of walking back into time as you are greeted at the reception.Your room however is fitted with all modern amenities. The owner and his wife are at hand to make you feel at home.A great place to explore the wonders of Kaiserstuhl and the surrounding Black Forest. Fabulous... More

If you would have a good meal you must have a stop here. There are two good restaurants, the "schwarzer adler" ,1 star in the Michelin Guide and for country meals the "rebstock" . Well eqipped also the rooms in the "main House" and in the guesthouse on the other side of the street. The rooms in the main house... More

We stayed for one night in this small village. We choose the hotel since it was a member of the Small Luxury hotels. The room itself was okay but nothing special: think Laura Ashley and a hideous chandelier that makes it a bit old fashioned. A rather small bathroom but everything was spotless. The staff was very helpful and really... More

Ok I am biased. I love Germany, I love German wine, and I love good food. I also like to be pampered and fussed-over and made to feel important, and you get all this and more in this spectacular small hotel. Small in size it may be, but with 1 of the best restaurants in Germany, coupled with a wine... More

We spent two nights at the hotel. Unfortunately they booked us into a room in a building 200 meters down the street from the main hotel without telling us. The room was rather dark and sparsely decorated with a tiny bed with two sliding mattresses (for a young couple) and no view at all. This was not what we had... More

We read about this hotel in Conde Nast Traveller magazine a year or two ago. It was highly recommended for its food and we got a really great deal by booking it through the Small Luxury Hotels website. We had wine, fruit & water in our room on arrival. The room was OK and the bathroom spacious, but it was... More

We had a fabulous 2 day break here last week. Very quiet village in a pretty, unspoilt and beautiful area of south-west Germany close to Alsace and Switzerland. Our room was immaculate; simply but elegantly furnished, stunning bathroom with power shower and a nice touch of mineral water and fruit. The bedroom backed-on to the vinyards which are everywhere in... More
