We spent 5 glorious nights in this fabulous hotel. We were part of a group of vintage motorists and booked the whole hotel. Each room is decorated in a quirky individual style. They are all comfortable with great bathrooms. The atmosphere is very relaxed, often with no visible staff, but when one was wanted, someone appeared out of nowhere. They... More

My husband and I stayed here October 18th for one night. We chose it because of good reviews and because we thought we might like a little bit of a treat. We were disappointed. The hotel had the potential to be gorgeous, a beautiful salon which no one used because it was dark - no lights worked and it had... More

Quaint building full of historic charm. Staff are courteous and polite. Our double + one room was in the attic which worried me as it was August, but once in our room and the windows were opened it was fresh and tastefully decorated with a charming annex for my son to sleep in with his own television. The bathroom was... More

A lovely hotel on one of the very few hills in the area. Charming individual rooms and very helpful staff make this boutique style hotel the best place to stay in the area. The grounds are lovely and great views. A historic place to stay.

Super smashing etc. Seriously, a very nice place. We've stayed in the hotel twice now and once in their little apartment block down the road, both good but the hotel is so interesting that it's worth the extra. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly though quite a few of them clearly don't have much English. The dining... More

Very luxurious hotel in the small lovely village of Cassel, on a hill, with a wonderfull view on the countryside. Extremely friendly staff. The rooms are super: clean, spacious, luxurious, bright. Nice outdoor swimming pool and garden with chairs and deckchairs. Cosy lounge and bar with many excellent whiskies. Breakfast is rather expensive for what it is. But all the... More

We were unexpectedly delayed for 24 hours with our ferry due to new pet passport worming regs so headed for Cassel rather then stay in Calais for the night. We checked trip advisor for hotels in the town and checked out this hotel and found that they had one room (on a sat) for the night for both of us... More

There aren't many places to stay in this town that is a little off the beaten path for tourists. Each room has a unique personality. If you need something in the evening, your French language skills need to be pretty good because there are not english speakers working around the clock. Our business group had some meals catered at the... More

I stay there every couple of months or so during business trips to the region. It's a very lovely building and retains a lot of it's history and old world charms and the setting is lovely. It has wonderful views across the countryside from the restaurant and terrace. The town of Cassel is nice and has several decent restaurants. It... More

I once popped in to ask for a brochure just after the Shoebeque had opened, and was offered a glimpse into almost all of the individually-styled rooms. I couldn't wait for an opportunity to stay there, and now I have! Friendly staff, historic building (residence of Marshal Foch during early part of World War I), attractive decor, on-site parking, and... More
