We have been stopping off at La Souterraine on our way to and from South West France for a number of years. We keep on going back because Duncan and Lisa have transformed this beautiful old house into the perfect French B&B. The things I would highlight - the warmth of the welcome; the stylish refurbishment that brings together comfort... More

We had a wonderful nights stopover at Maison Numero Neuf breaking up a long drive down to the south of France. From Duncan's initial greeting when we arrived to the fantastic dinner that evening, we could not have been made more welcome. Dinner was stunning, beautiful presentation & absolutely delicious while making us feel totally relaxed. The room was spacious,... More

This is an absolute gem. We stayed here for one night en route from Switzerland to the West Coast of France. We highly recommend it: a beautiful old house, extremely comfortably furnished - simple, traditional, elegant; charming hosts; a very welcome pre-dinner drink; delicious three course supper, with much local produce; and an equally delicious breakfast. Dinner was served with... More

After a 7 hour drive we were greeted by Duncan who informed us that we were just in time for a pre dinner drink, just what you want to hear after a long drive. Lisa made us a three course meal served by Duncan and his son and there was no shortage of conversation from the other guests whom shared... More

A gem. Stayed for one night en route from Toulouse to Paris and this was the ideal halfway house. The family room was very comfortable and accommodated both kids and parents easily. Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced and the breakfast was healthy, with good local fruits and fresh bread/croissants/jams etc.... The house is beautifully decorated; a real home from... More

As soon as we turned into the driveway Lisa was there to greet us holding open the tall secure gates welcoming us. We parked the car and were then ushered into Numero Neuf.Everything was perfect from then on.Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated ,fresh flowers, white crisp linen sheets and fluffy towels. We then went downstairs to a bottle of Rose'... We stayed at Maison Número Neuf en-route from the. South of France, for one night. Lisa and Duncan are friendly hosts and the house is homely & comfortable. They are avid collectors of 'brocante' and the house is full of the antiques and bric a brac which they've found. They even sell some of the items which are displayed in... More

We stayed at maison número neuf for one night en route to the south of france. We have stayed in many table d'hotes style accommodation over the years and this was one of our favourites. Our hosts were lovely and enquired in advance what our daughter would like to eat; Lisa's home made fish and chips were a definite hit.... More

My husband, sister and her dog stayed for one night on our trip down to the south west of France. On arrival we were greeted by Lisa who was very friendly and she showed us upstairs to our rooms. The house is beautifully decorated and felt very warm and welcoming from the start. Lisa had given us the two rooms... More

I stopped here one night while walking the Chemin Saint-Jacques from Vezelay to Santiago de Compostela. This is much more than a B&B much much more than a gite for pilgrims. The Rowney family, parents and children alike, are gracious and generous hosts. Their home is very beautiful reflecting the French country town in which it is situated and it... More
