Nice hotel that shows wear and tear on its building and some of its outside facilities. Was told that the hotel is running an eco-friendly concept and thus the natural primitive look of its building is acceptable. A good retreat place for green seekers. Rooms are in wooden and stones decor and feature in-room spa treatments. The staffs are nice... More

Knew this hotel due to the Taiwanese drama. Stayed here for 1 night, pampered ourselves with the Papawaqa Suite. We booked through their website and had chosen the wrong option (the booking website is all in Chinese, hence we have to decipher based on our basic Chinese knowledge), and one of their staff called to confirm our booking for the... I recently had the joy of going to this resort in the mountains of Taiwan. The resort was beautiful and the scenery was excellent. They have a Hot Springs that includes outside pools (and spa) and even in your room. Hot Springs and champagne is SO RELAXING. The rooms are wonderful and the view from ours was the best...clouds surronding... More

We stayed for 2 nights in a second floor moonlight suite with en-suite hotspring tub and a river view. It was part of a hot spring trip with this being the last hotel in a series of 3 hotspring hotels in Taiwan that we stayed at. (see my other reviews on Grand View Beitou and Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi) The... More

Location: Coming from Taipei, it is a bit of a trek with windy roads along the way. We took a TRA and then caught a taxi from the Miaoli train station. Taxi cost about 900NTD (neg) Onsen: Architecture-ly pleasing. Surrounded by mountains, and a river (murky) running alongside. Feels like a small luxury resort. There seems to be sufficient rest... This hotel allow us to enjoy the beauty of the country side with a luxury hotel setting. I think this hotel is the only up to par hotel in this area if you are looking for 5 stars hotel experience. The price tag depends on which room you choose. Lower price room may have a hill side view only or... More

The building itself looks pretty - especially at night. However, the room is not as comfy as we expected. That said, u don't have closet to put ur clothes ( only a rack) and hence have to put ur luggage on floor, which looks messy. The room is too dark - i have to use the flashlight from my cell phone... Everything is very posh & view is great! Service is excellent. Can't ask for more. Each guest is treated like a VVIP! Will be back again. Better to drive or hire a driver in Miao Li as the area is huge.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Taiwan, offering an escape from the city. The drive to this hotel, however can be long and winding. The room is furnished in dark wood, and may not be ideal for reading. However the room also comes with a balcony, with a table with 2 stools, overseeing the main... More

We put Onsen Papawaqa in the GPS and drove out for the weekend to see what Tai'an was like. When we reached the hotel, we were so impressed by the building's nature-friendly design we decided to stop in and see if a room was available. For about NT$7000, we got a twin room on the ground floor of a side... More
