The last 15 k's are rough dirt road. However, I had heard good reviews so arrived with high hopes. Perhaps it was the weather... But our stay was not as we expected. First, the restaurant service was very slow (no customers) and the food was indeed very average, despite what we had been led to expect. Menu choices were limited... More

I stayed in Kookoo’s Nest 4 nights with my family. The detail is as follows. It took approximately one hour and 30 minutes that I got to KooKoo’s nest from Dumaguete airport. At the first half, the car ran on the paved road, at the latter half, the car ran on the dirty road. The transportation rate was 1150peso, but... More

My Family stayed at Kookoo’s Nest for 7 nights during my son’s school spring break. We were told about Kookoo’s Nest by a friend who stayed there several years ago. Jamie is a Dive Master and prior to our arrival had arranged for our Open Water Certification training. He takes the training very serious and it took 4 whole days... More

This is an absolutely perfect example of what it is. If you're looking for inexpensive huts made of native materials situated on a nice stretch of private beach with warm days, quiet starry nights, decent snorkeling, a good dive operation, and 5-star food, this would be it. Add a remarkably good and varied library featuring real literature instead of the... More

A little strange to locate this place in Dumaguete city because its a 42 km ride from there and a challaging one for the last part. The 107 stairs and you will arrive on a beautiful beach along wich 4 houses are built with natural elements like nipa palm. Beautiful and very well constructed half open buildings with confortable beds.... More

We found Nikki and Jamie through friend of a friend. We spent 10 nights with them from 17th to 27th December 2013. We are a Brit family of 4. It was just fab. The other reviews (apart from 2 fruitcakes) kind of say it all. Setting is awesome - an average sunset with margarita, see below. Nikki and her wonderful... More

A group of us rented a few bungalows for a week, and were not disappointed! We all spent a lot of time relaxing, eating and drinking. Jamie is more than happy to take people out on day excursions, i.e. snorkeling and hiking, and I would definitely recommend the hiking. There are pools and a waterfall about a half hour away... More

Thanks Jamie and Nikki for creating such a wonderfully idyllic venue, and for being such good hosts. Thanks also for attracting such a nice bunch of guests to spend time with. Kookoo's Nest demonstrates a perfect balance of local and international features. It has all the beauty and simplicity of local bamboo and nipa cottages, without sacrificing any comforts. It... More
