We were in June few days in this hotel. Hotel is very nice, direct in front of the beach with nice view from the swimming pool on the beach. Restaurant and bar are very friendly. We had a room direct to the garden, missing some light but room clean, bed correct and bathroom ok. So enough to sleep well :)... More

Beautiful relaxing resort! Warm water, white sand and lovely food and cocktails! We went out to one of the islands for some snorkeling which was amazing! We had an absolutely amazing time and will definitely go back!

Delightful locally owned small lodge on a beautiful beach, friendly staff, clean rooms, very private, must be the best value for money on the island, the food ranges from good to delicious, will happily stay there again.

Pros.... Beautiful location, great food, lovely infinity pool, nice cottage rooms with patios Cons.... Slow bar service and meal service, mosquitoes plentiful, rooms need to be air conditioned all the time due to lack of screens on some windows This is really a nice resort and is all about a slow paced, relaxing vacation. The beach below the resort is... More

We had a very relaxing three night stay at Shooting Star Lodge. It's not too large, which we like, and the feel is very informal. The food is served in an open air dining room, and the meals were very good. Definitely need water sandals for the beach, which has rocks and coral. We tended to walk on the beach... More

I passed by the Shooting Star Lodge almost every day during my recent 10 day trip to Zanzibar. Staying at the Sultan Sands, I used to walk the length of the Kiwengwa Beach every day and saw the Shooting Star Lodge as I strolled past. It looked really nice & quiet, set atop a cliff, so I decided to go... More

After spending several weeks travelling across Africa & staying in tents & travelling by bus, this was the end of our trip & what a way to finish! The staff were brilliant & couldn't do enough for us. The food was incredible, & we were so grateful for the peace & relaxation. If you need to be entertained or want... More

Zanzibar is geting crowded with resorts and hotels that we all know. But the SSL retains that african charm, with all the necessities one needs but without the extravagancy that nowadays abound. The service is attentive, the rooms comfy, the food tasty. A place to relax.

We stayed 3 nights at shooting star, as soon as we arrived we slowed our holiday pace even further! The restaurant / bar / pool area were lovely, we would have liked to spend a bit more time down the beach bar as well but it seemed that no one was ever serving down there, we asked a couple of... We stayed for 3 nights and could not recommend it more. The rooms (more like suites) are spacious, beautifully designed and clean, with their own private outdoor area. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding - the waitresses were extremely kind and attentive and Emilie, the manager, was a welcoming host. Great bar area for playing scrabble, reading... More
