My wife and I spent 4 nights in Leila (one of the 4 villas at the retreat) for our honeymoon. The villa looks exactly like the pictures advertised and it comes with a butler to cater to your every needs. Our butler was called Ndaki and he was very helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable. Matemwe is for... More

Thanks to everybody for these days in paradise. The ZumZum Villa was spectacular. Food was delicious and Mohamed, our bachelor, was amazingly kind, friendly and hard worker. The free activities provided by the resort were fantastic; snorqueling with the dolphins was a great experience. We strongly recommend the Matemwe Retreat. Our honey moon was even more special thanks to you.... More

My sister and I stayed at the Matemwe Retreat in August 2014 and it was absolutely fantastic : ) We spent 5 days being pampered by George (our amazing butler) and the rest of the ridiculously attentive staff. The food was delicious and George was super helpful and accommodating with our dietary restrictions. The rooms were gorgeous and the grounds... More

We spent a week at Matemwe after enjoying a safari in Kenya. I wish there was a half star option as I would rate this place 3.5 stars. The good: the rooms are beautiful and relaxing. The private roof deck is a great spot to lounge, and the private pool is a must given the heat! Our butler, George, was... More

We arrived not knowing what to expect since the approach was daunting, What we found was the most wonderful, relaxing resort on the water in our private villa, with superb staff, management and food. Martin was our outstanding, pleasant and attentive "butler." His response to any need was "no problem!" Sandy, the manager, made sure that the resort ran efficiently... More

My wife and I decided on Matemwe retreat for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were met by Martin, our butler, who took us through to our villa Nuru. The place is amazing and was certainly everything we had hoped for. Everything and anything is catered for and Martin went out of his way to ensure that we had the most... More

We recently spent a week of our honeymoon at the Matemwe Retreat. I could not be happier with the choice of staying at the Matemwe Retreat. The staff - whether it's the management, the servers in the dining room, the bartenders, the spa, or the housekeeping - all were extremely professional - and knew our names on day 1. The... More

This place is everything it says on the tin and more. We stayed in the Retreat - our own villa, not overlooked, plunge pool and sunbathing on the flat roof with long sofa seating in the shade and bedroom, bathroom, outside verandah on ground level. Views of the ocean and the fishermen and palm trees - bliss. We had our... More

Beside the standard bungalows you can book one out of four villas. These have a plunge pool on the roof and there is a separate cook for the four villas plus a personal butler for each Villa. Our butlers name was Ndaki and I only can highly recommend to ask for him. He made our stay exceptionel, arranged the impossible,... More

My amazing partner surprised me with this booking as he organised everything. I must say I was slightly apprehensive this time around as I had never been to that side of the peninsular before. As we embarked on the journey there was lack of proper directions for those driving to the retreat. So we had to ask around the Matemwe... More
