I (unfortunatly) only stayed here for two nights during my 6 week volunteering trip in Zanzibar. I wanted a relaxing break half way through my trip, and I couldn't have chosen a better place! Me and my friend arrived after quite a long car journey and there was a member of staff waiting at the gates to help us with... More

The property is tucked away at the northeast end of the island of Zanzibar. We were expecting a beautiful white sand beach to enjoy in quiet as we unwound from our safari. The "cottage" was very nice, with lots of space and a "porch" are with hammock and seating. We were there the middle of March and it was very... More

Everything about the hotel is incredible. The food was super tasty and fresh. The staff was extremely hospitable and helpful; I felt right at home from the first day! The view and the scenery is phenomenal. The only minor issues were: weak wifi connection and bumpy road (15 min long) getting to the hotel. I would definitely head back to... More

Our family group of 12 stayed at Matemwe for 4 nights and we couldn't have been happier. This place did everything they could to make our stay magical. We really enjoyed the snorkel trip and BBQ lunch on a private beach. It was so great to have kayaks, reef shoes, snorkel gear available just for asking. The rooms were lovely... More

After an amazing 9 day safari in fantastic Tanzania we headed to Matemwe Lodge to relax for a short 2 night stay. The staff was wonderful, spa treatments relaxing and professional, and our room great. Arthur was very attentive and gracious. We opted for the coral reef walk with a wonderful local guide that was a bit challenging but fun.... More

We stayed at the retreat and had plenty of time to be at the Lodge. Great staff...helped us dive; go to Stone Town and enjoy the beautiful beach. Really thoughtful and attentive. Arthur Preston, the acting GM was great! Beautiful pool and access to beach...great restaurant and grounds. Perfect after the Safari we were on. Very relaxing .

What can i say, just magnificent. After the slightly bumpy trip along the back roads to the resort we were welcomed at a real home away from home....at least if my home was next to a perfect beach and it overlooked the ocean. The location is amazing from the bungalows with great views to the reef. You can just relax... More

Very relaxing, with a private/intimate and feeling. Asilia manage to combine luxury with a local feel to give a 5* authentic experience. The bungalow, with its huge comfy beg, view of the Indian Ocean, private plunge pool and romantic bath, was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming; the food, cocktails and sparkling wine were tasty and plentiful... More
