Wonderful location with lovely rooms and the best food tasted in East Africa. A 3 course evening meal beautifully cooked with local ingredients and freshly baked breads. Staff were attentive without hovering. A great place to relax with a central area for chilling out with evening sea breezes.

We had a lovely stay at Matemwe. The location is very good, right on a beach with the finest sand. The rooms are a bit worn, but the place has a very nice and relaxed ambience. And the food was excellent! It exceeded the other four places we stayed during our Tanzanian holiday. The staff was friendly and helpful. I... More

We stayed at Matemwe Beach for five days. The beach was wonderful. The pool area was enjoyable, bar staff friendly and the snacks very good. The restaurant food was terrible, little choice, I had fish twice for an evening meal, it was only half cooked. My wife hardly ate for the whole time we were there. As stated, saved by... More

We stayed here for a couple nights and had a lovely relaxing time. The food is good-no great, but certainly no complaints-and the setting is amazing. Had a great time snorkeling/diving with one ocean, a dive shop resident at the hotel. Only thing to avoid is the spa-had undoubtedly the worst manicure ever, nails cut to the quick and barely... We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay at Matemwe Beach Village and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. This is a fairly simple place to stay so if your looking for major luxury then you need to look elsewhere but if your looking for a place that offers great food, clean and adequate rooms, friendly service, a chilled out... We stayed four nights here after two weeks of safari's. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The chef and his staff serve wonderful meals. My wife and I enjoyed the pool area and our "interesting" suite! Everything is clean and comfortable. The beach is beautiful, but swimming is difficult due to the barrier reef off-shore and the sea urchins... More

I stayed here for 3 nights in July 2014 after a week of safari drives. This place is a home away from home. I stayed in a perfect little bungalow just a few metres from the beach (everything at this hotel is a few metres from the beach) and had the best time. From the time that you arrive to... More

We stayed for three nights at Matemwe Beach and it was just perfect:) We were welcomed warmly and everyone was friendly and helpful. All the food was delicious and served in various locations - in the restaurant, by the pool and in one of the little shelters on the beach itself! We enjoyed just relaxing on the beach, watching beautiful... More

We stayed at Matemwe for four nights. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was good. As it was full moon the low low tides made swimming in the ocean difficult. The pool was small, but allowed you to cool off. In addition, it was the windy season which made for big waves and difficult snorkelling. However,... More

I stayed 2 nights and 3 days here. Booked over the phone with Ali who helped arrange taxi from Stone Town. The entirety of the staff I met were warm and helpful. Munisi made me feel comfortable from the minute I arrived and answered all my questions. Chef Mike does a great job and is fun to chat with as... More
