Love it here. No need to leave during our short stay of three nights. First I must comment on how wonderful the staff are. Some of the younger gals don't speak much English but they understand and are well trained. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, so polite. The common areas for relaxing and dining are beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. Gorgeous... More

We were greeted with huge smiles and welcome cold drink on a very hot and very humid day:) the resort is right on the beach and has 2 pools. The staff were absolutely amazing!!! The food was of the highest quality we had on Zanzibar!!! We had dinner on the beach one night, amazing! The rooms were average, but had... More

Stayed in the Asali suite, which is truly beautiful and was wonderful as it meant we had our own private space to chill out in the shade during the hot, humid afternoons. The staff are wonderful and the food is very tasty. The pool bar is a nice place to go and chat to other guests if you feel sociable,... More

Me and my partner stayed at Matemwe Beach Village for 6 nights and wish we had more. We had already been on a brilliant Safari in Selous and one night in hectic Stonetown and so needed somewhere to relax and recuperate. Matemwe was perfect. From the start we were greeted warmly and given a tour of the establishment...... What makes... More

Having been to Zanzibar for a 12 days MTB tour, we (a group of 9 male/female Germans 35-49 yrs) had a 1 night stay in this very nice location situated directly at the beach and enjoyed it definitely. The food was really nice (we had a superb beach "candle light" dinner at a round table for our group), the rooms... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Matemwe Beach for 5 days after climbing Kilimanjaro. It was the perfect way to relax after the hike. The food was consistently incredible; every meal was delicious. The service was above and beyond. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed at check-in in to when left and were delivered directly to our ferry... More

I am gaga over this place. I stayed for six nights and wish I could have stayed just a bit longer. The staff here are flawless -- courteous and considerate with a fine eye to details (beautifully arranged flowers on the bed every day, right at my table when I was done with my salad, making sure I had everything... I was a little hesitant about coming to a beach setting, as beaches overseas seldom compare to those found in Western Australia. Thankfully my family and I were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful white sand beach at Matemwe and the lovely, relaxed resort setting. We stayed in one of the suites at the back of the property. Although I would... More

We stayed at Matemwe Beach Village for 3 nights in July and we loved it. The rooms are somewhat basic, but charming (a small tip: I would have preferred some rugs on the linoleum floor, and lighting other than fluorescent would have added more character/made the in-room atmosphere a bit warmer). BUT the rooms have wonderful front verandas, and front... More

Beautiful rooms, very close to the sea. Lovely pool. Great restaurant and bar with attentive waiters. We had an interesting time on the reef walk - deeper and trickier than expected. We got caught in a terrific storm and Nana fell on some sea urchins but Captain Hassan was exceptional!
