Beautiful rooms, very close to the sea. Lovely pool. Great restaurant and bar with attentive waiters. We had an interesting time on the reef walk - deeper and trickier than expected. We got caught in a terrific storm and Nana fell on some sea urchins but Captain Hassan was exceptional!

My wife and our two sons aged 16 and 18 have just spent 5 nights half-board here after a safari. The place was booked by our tour operator - Africa Travel Resource - who understood our needs and did not disappoint. If you are after a luxury room/ hotel in a town with vibrant night-life and lots to do and... More

We had a great time staying at Matemwe Beach Village. The location is on the most beautiful stretch of beach. It was very quiet and not for those who want somewhere with a lot of night life. All of the staff were fantastic, in particular the manager who was happy to help with anything we needed. The hotel itself was... More

We stayed 4 nights in Matemwe Beach Village, and we enjoyed every moment. The beach is the white sand beach, which you think exist only in advertisements, the lodge merges the natural surroundings with an English garden like feel in an utterly African style and atmosphere. In the time we stayed we still explored new impressions within the compound just... More

We went to Matemwe Beach Villige to relax after climbing Kilimanjaro and had a wonderful. The hotel is on a stunning beach which in just in the beginning of the season as we were there was completely empty and just for the few guests of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and The rooms have everything you need -... More

We stayed here last November, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The cottages are simply furnished but have everything you need, and are either close to the beach or in lovely gardens. The beach itself is spectacular, clean and unspoilt, and it's great to walk along in the evening and watch a passionate local football game. You can only... More

We, my husband and our 7-year old son, stayed here for 4 nights in the end of February 2015. We were upgraded to Shamba suite #1, which was good, as we travelled there straight from home in northern Europe (didn't do a mainland safari) and appreciated the AC. Only the master bedroom has AC, though. We really appreciated the open... More

The rooms vary in size and decor, we had a triple one at the back of the plot. The room was decent enough with an aircon (which would work better if all the windows were glazed...) but food was delicious. Though the pool was unusable when we were there and the tides really affect the swimming possibilities, it did not... More

We have just returned from an amazing 5 day stay at Matemwe Beach. It had a great atmosphere at the hotel, the staff looked after our every need and the food was the best we had in Zanzibar...really nice beach, lots of activities if you are feeling adventurous and very good value (compared to other hotels we have stayed at... Matemwe Beach Village is a very sweet and lovely place. We had an experience that will not be common to most. We booked an economy room, and when we arrived they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite! Our second honeymoon after 30 years! What luxury! A pool in our living room. So refreshing! The ocean water was remarkable in its'... More
