The hotel location is outstandingly beautiful, with long white sandy beaches fringed with coconut palms and casuarina trees, overlooking the warm turquoise-coloured clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Snorkelling over corals and brightly coloured fishes is good in front of the hotel, and excellent possibilities are easily available by boat. The management and staff were very friendly and always willing... More

We stayed at Panga Chumvi for 4 nights in August 2014. We stayed in the Banda bang on the beach- the only such banda in Mawtemwe I guess. We had our own veranda/ orch just 10 meters from the sea. Rebecca was very helpful both during the planning phase (very prompt in responding to mails) and during our actual stay.... More

What an amazing place! I have travelled to Zanzibar many times and panga chumvi and the matemwe area has been my favorite so far. There were 7 of us staying there and the rooms are clean, simple, and very comfy with a an incredible view and an even more incredible beach out front. The staff and Rebecca were wonderful and... This wasn't my first trip to Panga Chumvi, and it most certainly won't be my last either! It is the perfect place to forget the rest of the world exists for a few days. The beach is stunning and despite the Zanzibari tides, you can swim just fine at any point in the day (at what time will depend on... More

What a delightful resort! This was where we spent our honeymoon! Rebecca (owner) is so down to earth and very accommodating. Wonderful fresh food from her restaurant. Our beach-side room was so romantic/peaceful. Educational and fun things to do. Matemwe had nice beaches. I can't wait to go back and bring friends...a must see/stay :)

My holiday at Panga Chumvi was so much more than I expected as the resort was such a spacious, vibrant and relaxing place to be. The food portions were really big and priced considerably cheap. My Fiancee and I loved the traditional Zanzibari dishes which made the stay at Panga Chumvi all the more authentic. Our room was the perfect... More

My husband and I stayed here as a romantic getaway. The place was very quiet at that season, the owner was so sweet and lovely. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We were greeted with fresh flowers! The food was good but we thought it was expensive as prices were unrealistic in Euros!! We ate twice to the next... More

We stayed at Panga Chumvi over Easter, low season and low price for us. We enjoyed it very much, it was quiet, the food was good and when the tide came in we could snorkel. At night we saw shooting stars and the rise of the moon, which was very impressive. The owner, Rebecca, is absolutely lovely. There is no... More

NIce hotel, but not worth the 100 EUR we paid (even in low season); for that amount one may expect a pool and AC in the room. Maybe because of the season, but the sea and beach was rather dirty. Water not clear and lots of plastics..

I enjoyed my stay at the Panga Chumvi, but there were some details that if I were to visit Zanzibar would probably try another property. I loved the beach, the sand is white and soft. The hotel takes good care of it, but if you go North or South, there is a lot of rubbish. As soon as you arrive... More

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about the taxi - this should certainly not have happened! We do work with a trusted partner in Matemwe to provide our taxis, and have an agreement with them about the price prior to booking them in for a visitor arriving at the airport or coming from any other part of the island....
