I stayed there in February and completely fell in love with Matemwe. The beach is stunning though it was not good for swimming because of the saweed season. Keys bungalow is located at the end of Matemwe next to the fishmarket. In the afternoon you can watch the local fishermen bringing their catch of the days to the market an... More

I traveled with two friends and I had made a reservation at a place nearby in advance based on TA reviews but when we arrived at the other place we were underwhelmed by our greeting and the back and forth over the exchange rate since we were paying in Tsh. Oh yeah, and they didn't have a bar... so we... More

First of all Keys Bungalows is a great backpacker friendly place. The double room we had was great and the bar/restaurant area is really nice. There are a few hammocks and you can really chill out there. It is right on the beach but that for me is the issue. The beach is not the idyllic indian ocean sea we... More

My husband and I spent 5 amazing days at Keys Bungalows and we didn't want to leave. Our bungalow was the most comfortable accomodation we have had in Tanzania with a beautiful double bed, plenty of space to move around, medium cabinet for storage and a very clean ensuit bathroom. There is a spacious restaurant/bar that looks out on a... More

We loved everything about this place: Our lovely, large bungalow (which had two double beds, large bathroom and storage area), the various outside sitting areas and the fabulous views from the restaurant/bar. You could easily sit there for hours watching the coming and going of the fishermen, villagers, tourists. The whole atmosphere at Keys is extremely friendly and relaxed and... More

We had a lovely time staying at Keys Bungalows mainly because the staff were so nice and fun. The bungalows are located right on the white beach, Keys' restaurant (although limited in choice) has good food at very reasonable prices. The complimentary beakfast consists of fruitplatters served by the beach and fried eggs/toast. We were worried at first that it... More

We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful location just next to the beach. The staff was nice, we met Ali, the owner who told us his life story witch made us really quite. The man started from nothing... didn't even go to school and is now owner of this fine place. Cool beer, fantastic food and music.

I spent 5 wonderful days in Key's. The people were very friendly, meals very tasty, rooms cosy and clean, and the athmosphere is the biggest plus of this place. I would recomend it to anyone, I enjoyed it much more than other places at Zanzibar. They have the best staff in Tanzania :) Thanks a looot guys!

This hostel is based in Matemwe, one of the less spoilt beaches in Zanzibar. It provides modest rooms with the basic commodities and a fantastic host who welcomes you heartily and provides you with anything you might want ;)
