This is a very nice low key bungalow collection. The staff and Ali is extremely friendly and helpful. Food is great. Ali also has a car rental on the side and it is very fun to drive around and explore Zanzibar. But we had a run-in with some local corrupt cops that ask for a bribe **IMPORTANT** if you rent... I booked Keys Bungalows for New Year's Eve. One day before my arrival I asked at Keys if everything's alright with my booking and the transfer from the airport which I booked, they confirmed. One day later I arrived at the airport on Zanzibar, but no one was waiting for me. Thanks to the nice taxi driver Said who knew... More

Was there in January 16 and enjoyed it very much! Ally(the owner) is such a nice and helpful person and he also gives you a lot of advice if you ask him for some tips what to do or where to go! Me and my friends had a lot of fun adn enjoyed the stay very much! It is also... More

I love that this place exists, yes I hated sleeping there there were massive ants but that's because it's on the beach and it's a hut! And yes it feels like a hostel but what do you expect at $50 a night, what the place lacks in hygiene/luxury/comforts it really makes for with its charming staff, surprisingly good food, amazing... Great cheap option for backpackers to stay at the beautiful Matemwe beach. Very kind staff and delicious food. Definitely nice atmosphere to stay and relax. Clean rooms, but bathrooms need repair. Leaking toilet and taps full of limestone. Unfortunately also the water in the bathroom was smelling strange (but might be normal in this area?). If you want a cheap... More

We first found this idyllic place 8 years ago, we had come to visit family here in Zanzibar but found the noise and heat too much and needed some time away to simply recharge. We met Ally in Darijani and he suggested his new resort we jumped at the chance. We weren't disappointed at all . Paradise.. Two days there... More

Dear Ali Keys crew, thanks a lot for your kindness and for making ginger tea when I was sick, helping me out with my Suaheli and the bracelet! I really felt at home and welcome! Matemwe is rather quiet and has a few high end places around, but not a lot on the lower price end to offer. The Keys... More

I stayed there in February and completely fell in love with Matemwe. The beach is stunning though it was not good for swimming because of the saweed season. Keys bungalow is located at the end of Matemwe next to the fishmarket. In the afternoon you can watch the local fishermen bringing their catch of the days to the market an... More

I traveled with two friends and I had made a reservation at a place nearby in advance based on TA reviews but when we arrived at the other place we were underwhelmed by our greeting and the back and forth over the exchange rate since we were paying in Tsh. Oh yeah, and they didn't have a bar... so we... More
