First of all, before entering the hotel gate, you must first drive through a lot of impoverished areas. Just before you arrive to the gated hotel, you must pass through a village that obviously has no running water or electricity. Once the gate is opened, you enter a beautiful Oasis. This place looks like a boutique resort but lacks the... More

The hotel is located right on the beach and is clean and well designed. The rooms are big (we stayed one night at the regular suite and then moved to the panoramic suite which has outstanding views). The staff is really nice and makes sure the visitors are satisfied (there is always a manager around). The food is really good... More

Excellent place to relax hearing the sound of the waves. This relatively small and built with attention to details hotel is located just on the beach. In low tide it can be difficult to swim in the sea but there are two swimming pools with an amazing view. The beach is great to walk, run or go cycling (there are... More

We are a family of five (3 teenage children) and we stayed at Sunshine hotel for four nights last week. Firstly, this is a very well managed hotel with excellent staff . Cara the manager, is very hands on, extremely knowledgable, always available and makes the difference in this hotel. She is assisted by Doris who is so prompt in... More

Sunshine Hotel remains one of my favorite hotels on mainland Zanzibar. It has a lovely location - very close to the best dive/snorkel sites and the dolphin pod of Mnemba Atoll- and can arrange dive lessons, excursions and snorkel there. The food is very good, the service excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Don't miss the spa for... More

We stayed here for six nights. It was very relaxing. The Hotel is very, very clean. The tropical garden gives every balcony enough private sphere. The staff is very friendly, helpful and well trained. The beach is very clean and there are not too many people around, so you can stay there for hours..sleep, read a book and nobody disturbs you. The food was... More

We stayed here for 4 nights during our Honeymoon, in the Honeymoon suite so this review is only based on staying in this suite - which is gorgeous - it has its own private beach garden and plunge pool and the room is big with a lovely bed. We had an amazing time staying there, at the end of the... More

I stayed at this hotel for four nights and had a fantastic time. The setting is perfect with a meticulously maintained tropical garden; a view of the white sands, blue water and local wooden outrigger boats; and quiet, relaxing, and decadent pools. The staff are friendly and low key. Check in with Cara, she is a great source of information... More

The hotel is beautiful. The pools were very hard to leave, and the staff was wonderful. The restaurant was fantastic - we wound up eating there every day (should have gotten the full food package). Our room was very clean and comfortable.

Stop looking! this is by far the best hotel on Matemwe beach. We walked the beach and popped into all of the other hotels to look at restaurants, and our hotel was definitely the best, so we ate at our hotel every day. I booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my husband, It was paradise. A small boutique... More
