Lets remember we are in East Africa ! Too many people seem to moan about the little things. We were a family of 5 with older teenage children and we had two rooms together with adjoining rooms, lovely size and decor with breakfast served on your veranda ! Perfect start to the day. This resort is like a mini retreat. It... More

Amazing stay. Rooms comfortable spacious and clean .Service was excellent. Loved eating breakfast outside the room. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Yoga facilities were amazing. The owner was very helpful and friendly and was always available for advice. I would recommend flame tree for anyone wanting to get away from it all.

As a Zanzibar resident, I called up at quite late notice to try to find a room in Nungwi. The manager of Flame Tree offered us a room so we drove straight up. However, it then turned out she had just forgotten that actually she had no space. She tried to get us into a neighbouring hotel, at prices well... More

Went for a weeks yoga retreat with Marisa Van Vuuren and loved it. The place is small and charming set in a beautiful garden with a small pool in the middle. The rooms are just right and you have your own deck where you will get your breakfast served every morning :-) The restaurant serves great food and has the... More

The hotel is situated very nicely with the Nungwi village and beach 10 meters away. The rooms are actually very nice: spacious with a sofa, chairs, fridge, desk and a patio. The bathroom is OK: a shower takes 15 minutes just to wash off soap (as there is very little water coming out). Replenishing of soap and toilet paper was... More

We came to Nungwi Beach from Paje Beach on the East Coast so I guess my review is biased somewhat as we really enjoyed Paje, which is quite undeveloped, and then came to Nungwi which is a bit tacky in places. After arriving at Flame Tree we went for a walk and turned left out of the gate. What a... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Regarding the soap I think there must have been a language failure as we sell souvenir soaps for $1 per piece in our small gift selection. Soap is provided free for guest rooms and is replenished as necessary. We try to support local enterprises as much as possible and the... More

We were seven people in the age from 21 years to 52 years staying in four different cottages, and we all had a really nice experience :) First of all, the place was just beautiful. The beach was nice and the light was so fascinating. I felt I was a part of a dream the first day I woke up... More

Fantastic week spent at Flame Tree Cottages Hotel. Superb room, lots of space for a family of 4 with 2 children and AC very much appreciated. Lovely having breakfast on our verandah overlooking the beautiful gardens.
