I stayed in Flame Tree Cottage for 3 nites in Sept 2009 with my husband, found that it was really a very nice place, very quiet as there was only a few cottages which didn't have too much guests, every room was big enough and got it's own balcony, beautiful garden surrounded, and the services was extremely good that we... more

This mini resort is set right on the beach with a private beach area at the front. Super relaxing to hang in the hammocks there and watch the Ocean. Service was ok. The owner and the manager Alexa were really helpful. The only thing I didn't like was that the rooms are a bit bare and could be pimped up... more

Well, it was good, especially after 1 week camping and not spending much....However I was just a little bit disappointed, because my expectations were a bit high, considering all the nice reviews that I read before the booking. It has been a while ago now, but it still really fresh in our minds, because our safari in Tanzaniza before finishing... more

Just got back from 5 days at Flame Tree Cottages with my husband and another couple. We were so happy that we ended up there compared to some of the other places we saw in Nungwi for the following reasons: 1. Big, very clean cottages 2. Owners (Seif and Elizabeth) live on property and are so nice and helpful 3.... more

We stayed at the cottages in for our honeymoon this August 2009 and loved it. It was a wonderful start to our holiday, the owner live in the grounds and were really helpful and friendly, the rooms are spotless, the beach at the front of the hotel has lots of seaweed but a beautiful beach is two mins away. So... more

We stayed at the cottages in early July 2009 and were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and professional, the rooms are spotless, the beach is beautiful and the food is fantastic. I cannot imagine how anyone could not enjoy themselves at this little resort. Of all the places we stayed in Tanzania, Flame Tree was by far the cleanest.... more

This hotel is ideal for enjoying the real Zanzibar. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are lovely and the staff are great. The owners Elizabeth and Seth were brilliant for offering advice, organising excursions at no extra charge (most hotels in the area charge) and generally going above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. What was great about this... more

This is a charming, small and peaceful place located in Nungwi. Booking was easy through their web pages (www.flametreecottages.com) and was answered by Elizabeth or Seif, the owners. 30 percent deposit must be paid via bank transfer, but I paid the whole amount and didn't need to carry so much cash with me. Credit cards are not accepted, only US... more

I am absolutely baffled as to how Flame Tree Cottages can charge 120 USD per night in the Nungwi/Kendwa area. I initially booked Flame Tree as it was our last stay on a six week holiday in East Africa and wanted a splurge at the end of the trip. However, upon arrival, we were told none of the cottages were... more

Stayed here with a friend for a week in February. Was just what we needed before we flew home. Service was great and loved the breakfast on the verandah each morning. Food was scrummy. Its not flashy but its really just comfortable and relaxing. I loved Zanzibar - would recommend this place in an instant. more
