This was my third stay at the Altamont lodge. Its a budget choice with communal kitchen, lounge and TV room. Because its all wood it could be a bit noisy though. The managers are very nice people and even found a charger for my old nokia. Good for skiers, families an anyone wanting a place in Wanaka to chill out... More

we had a short stay at the Altamont, the hosts were really helpful and friendly in welcoming and advising us - the beds were comfortable, large communal kitchen was well appointed and the fire was lit for us in the lounge room. Its a nice walk into town and would really recommend to anyone coming to Wanaka.

I really just want to echo what other reviewers have said: The owners are lovely people, the facilities are spotless, it's cheap as, the location is good, and the atmosphere is cozy, unpretentious, and relaxing. The room (1 double + 2 bunks) was a bit small for me and two kids but that wasn't a problem since there's plenty of... More

Only stopped at this place as it looked cheap. Best place we stayed on our two week trip, everything felt so clean and homely. The hosts Noeline and Rod were so nice and friendly. Would have loved to stay for longer.

We happened upon the lodge by accident but what a great find! Rod and Noeline are such friendly, nice people which makes staying at the lodge even more fun. Great value for money, extremely comfortable and clean. Enjoyed drinks and nibbles in the garden, lovely laid back atmosphere, will be back to try out the spa! Will definately recommend this property.

As a traveling triathlete I am always looking for a nice warm quite environment to stay prior to a race. Neoline and Rod score 10 out of 10 with their excellent home from home accommodation. Two nicer people you will never meet, who pride themselves on providing a secure and immaculately clean environment. This is the only place to stay... More

It's all in the title, "this place is awesome". The hosts Rod & noelene are perhaps the friendliest people I have met in all my travels. The place is always clean and the grounds maintained. After 7 nights it felt like home and I admit I did not want to leave. For me it's not often I will give something... More

Stayed here in two rooms with 2 teenagers in one and my husband son and I in another, for one night. Small but cosy rooms. This is lodge accommodation so the bathroom and kitchen are shared and the bedrooms are minimal but more than adequate. The managers are wonderful - very friendly and jolly. Felt like I'd known them for... More

Altamont is a great place to self-cater and meet interesting people in the large kitchen-dining area or in the lounge where the new woodburner will maintain the atmosphere. No point in blowing the budget when you can enjoy the hospitality here.
