Riverrun is a unique and beautiful 5 star (or I guess circles in the case of Tripadvisor) property with just a great location and wonderful owner. Location: This was probably the best part. Set on top of a hill close to a river, the property is huge. Lots of opportunities for walking and lots of local wildlife to look at.... More

Nice to read this amidst the cold weather leading up to our ski season. Many thanks for the detailed response and warm review. More

River Run was a nice relaxing way to end our trip to New Zealand. The B&B is located on a working sheep farm and it was spring so the lambs were abundant and a pleasure to watch playing outside our bedroom window. The property is 400+ acres and has a walking trail that leads to the Clutha River - which... More

The ultimate B&B package. 6 km from idyllic Wanaka, nestled into the side of a hill amidst rolling countryside with majestic mountain views. A unique building featuring exotic exposed timbers, adobe plaster, spectacular scenery, designed and furnished with rugged charm that evokes warmth, roasted coffee, lavender, tranquility. Our guest room was extraordinarily good: the best of the best for stylish... More

This lodge, situated 10 minutes drive from Wanaka, offers high standards of comfort, a pleasant rural setting, and convivial atmosphere. The rooms, the living room, the terrace and the lawns convey a sense of peace and tranquility. The mountains and the river provide an agreeable backdrop. The Lake is not visible from the property but can be quickly reached by... More

We stayed in several excellent lodges on our trip to New Zealand in February. This one has wide-ranging views, across farmland to mountains. So peace and quiet virtually guaranteed. We had an upstairs room which was large, well-furnished and very comfortable. Karen the chef does not work at weekends so we had only one meal at the lodge, which was... More

We stayed here for one night in March. The hotel is a short drive from the town centre (around 10 minutes). Make sure you know check the location beforehand, as it is not very well signposted! There is no signage along the main road, and even once on the actual road we did not spot the entrance on our first... More

Many thanks for such a detailed review! I am glad you enjoyed your stay overall but concerned about your feeling of lack of privacy. Like many small luxury bed and breakfasts and lodges (most of the independent lodges are between 3-7 rooms in New Zealand) it is an intimate style of accommodation here. I know we had some very early... More

How MUCH we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful country lodge. We were welcomed so warmly by Meg and her excellent staff and given all the information that we might need to really enjoy our stay. Beautiful large bedroom with views over Meg's 500 acres of farmland, fresh cotton sheets and towels every day and a luxurious bed which gave... More

We spent 2 nights at this fascinating lodge. The architecture and amazing use of old timbers and farm equipment is remarkable. Our room was spacious and spotless as was our bathroom. Views from every window and door were breathtaking and relaxing. Meg our host was quietly efficient, friendly and very helpful in helping us plan our time in Wanaka. Her... More

We loved this. A warm welcome from Meg when we arrived and then shown to a huge room with King sized bed and spotless bathroom overlooking the valley. Wow - we were amazed.but there was more to come. Welcome drinks at 6.30 pm. under the sunshade in the garden and home-made pre-dinner nibbles. The New Zealand wine was delicious and... More

First a great setting. A great lodge. And a wonderful host - Meg. Highly recommended. Meg and her team will take care of you. Wonderful food - both experienced at dinner and breakfast. Lots of local advice. We will return soon!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Riverrun is a small luxury lodge, 5 mins drive from Wanaka, on a 500 acre farm bordering the Clutha river (New Zealand's largest river) and the Cardrona river. Guests can enjoy walks, running and bike trails on the property. The accommodation is luxurious, stylish, but un-stuffy. The lodge employs a chef and offers a gourmet 4 course dinner to guests Monday through Friday nights, but not at weekends. Evening appetisers are served nightly. Breakfast is delicious. Meg has lived in Wanaka for 18 years and done many of the local activities; hiking, mountain biking, skiing, climbing, kayaking, heli-hiking and heli-biking, cruises out to islands on the lake - not to mention wine-tasting. All the lodge rooms are ensuite, with magnificent views of the Southern Alps. ... more   less
