We stayed here for 3 nights on recommendation of friends, as motel is well sitiuated for Mt Cook and surrounding lake exploration. We had one bedroom unit with full stove, which proved useful as we self catered using fresh salmon from local salmon farm about 1 km down road. Decor was little tired, but all clean and worked, though shower... More

We stayed there in our trip the hotel is a bit fair away from Mt Cook we though it would only take us about 30mins there but in fact was 45min. The facilities were clean. I found the bed linen was old. The kichenette was fine enough to have a meal. It is ok for one night stay. The toilet... More

We arrived at this motel on one of the hottest days in February, 33 deg. Thank goodness there was airconditioning. Clean enough, the kitchen was tiny, no frills. This room had the windows and sliding doors facing the sun for most of the day, so we had to keep the curtains closed and it was dark and dingy. Would be... More

Units are cramped with very little furniture. No drawers space so we ended folding clothes on a ledge at the interface with the walls and roof. Cooking facilities very poor indeed for our party of 9 (in 5 units). What crockery glassware and cutlery there was, it didn't match at all - all odd shapes and colours. Only ONE unit... More

We stayed here for 1 night during our travels in NZ. It was easy to find, comfortable, clean and close to amenties. They offered laundry facilities as well. There is a bench outside the chalet for relaxing which I thought was a nice touch. The staff were approachable enough but not overly welcoming. I would definitely stay here again as... More

we only stayed one night but it wasnt up to much. Twizel describes itself a 'vibrant' - but is anything but! however its a convenient stopping place. The view from the chalet is over a desolate playground. The staff were fairly dour and not very helpful. The chalet was very basic and cold even in summer. They say they charge... More

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Mountain Chalets in Twizel. The rooms had everything we needed and it was quite reasonably priced. The motel is a little walk out of town which we found quite refreshing in the cold air! The A-Frame chalets are well kept and clean and well worth staying at if you are planning a trip to... More

Just found the accomodation absolutely freezing particularily the bathroom and kitchen which were not heated and it was minus 5 during the night. I went to bed with my clothes on as I just couldnt get warm, it had warmed up a bit by the morning so that we could brave the shower

These detached A-frame chalets are of differing sizes depending on the price and numbers of guests staying. We had a 3-room (bedroom/lounge-diner/bathroom) chalet No23, on Wairepo Road. The chalet was extremely well-equipped with a full-size cooker and microwave, iron and hairdrier. The bathroom was large, well-lit from a Velux window. Spacious shower enclosure with good control, but the bathroom was... More
