This is a tired looking place in a pretty location. Twizel is a jumping off place for the Mt. Cook hikes. It has several places to eat, and two good supper markets. The lodge seems about 50 years old with minimum updates since then. Clean and safe, just not happy and upbeat.

I stayed one night in a dorm and the bed was very uncomfortable. I had to wait for a friend to come back from a tramp around noon the morning after, so I asked the receptionist on my arrival if I can hang in the living room for a couple of hours after the check out and she said that... More

Basic but great value. Stayed in one bed apartment at end near pub (surprisingly quiet). Comfy bed with clean sheets. Only criticism is tiny bathroom but does the job and for the money what more can you expect. Would stay again.

I was passing through town and stopped in here without a reservation. I spoke with the owner who said "you'll like it here." Sure enough, after four nights my schedule required I move on. I did enjoy the motel. All the cooking utensils you need, nice big room, big porch to sit on in the rain, good heater, nice lawn... More

Very pleasant stay in Backpackers room 707. We had previously stayed and were not happy with bed and Chris placed us in another room which was great Thank you Chris (didnt have time to personally thank you).

After heading down from Fox Glacier on the West Coast to the southern tip of the South Island we headed north again on the East Coast and stopped overnight at several places. We came off Highway 1 at Pukeuri and took Highway 83 and headed inland for Twizel. Again we knew the area we wanted to stay and Twizel is... More

The rooms are spacious and clean and the price is reasonable the bed and seats were comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. there is a big grassy area in front of the unit to relax on and some chairs and a table to use out front.

Separate cabin-like buildings each containing a dozen or so rooms. Our room was ensuite - clean but a throw back to the 70's. It had cutlery, crockery, kettle and toaster which was handy for breakfast. The common kitchen however was small despite having all the equipment you may need. That particular evening the motel was fully booked so the kitchen... More

Well located next to shops. Nice open field for the kids to play. Basic and clean facilities. Self contained unit with cooking facilities. Twizel is a great place to be near the lakes and mountains. Recommended as a base to explore the area

I arrived at the holiday lodge and was checked in immediately. I stayed in a 2 bed dorm, which was very comfortable and clean. It had its own sink, fridge and TV too. The communal showers were powerful and cleaned daily. The owners, Chris and Christine were incredible. As I was travelling alone from the UK, they made me feel... More
