Excellent camping ground and great base for the area, mount Cook Twizel canals, and 2 hr drive to wanaka, Queenstown . Showers are amazing (and free) Nice people here and owners are amazing nothing is a problem. Highly recommend.

Although advertised as a "sheltered paradise on the waterfront of Lake Ruataniwha" the only part of this park that is on the lake edge is the entrance and the Motel units. After reading about this park and looking at the pictures on their website I had high hopes it would be similar to other lakeside parks we have stayed in,... More

Tony R, Manager at Lake Ruataniwha Holiday Park, responded to this review

The park is located on the lakeside of Lake Ruataniwha. 50 acres on the side of the lake. We have deliberately kept buildings to the rear of the park so as not to inhibit everyone's use of the lake. The cabins are a 2 minute walk to the waters edge. The bathrooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. More

Like typical in NZ, Holiday Camps offer a variety of accommodation besides you bringing your own of whatever shape. Though often, the motel units don't quite cut the mustard, but here, the units are actually very nice, clean, good bed, good setting, and on the edge away from the camping area which can be cramped and crowded.

It has plenty of space and the proprietor is genuine and friendly. Authentic outdoor showers and toilets (with privacy).. Safe environment, quiet and romantic. Close to Mt Cook National Park and has close access to Lake Pukaki/fishing.

The hotel has a beautiful setting. The room is spacious, as we were three ladies travelling together. It is very clean and perfect for a one night stay over. It is not in Twizel, but it takes 5 minutes to get to the town if you want to go for something to eat. The area around the rooms is nicely... More

A no frills approach to the iconic NZ motor camp - clean and well maintained (although the ablution blocks are in need of a little TLC. The kitchen is clean and tidy with good cook tops and chillers, the grounds are basic and functionality is the driver here. The cabins are minimalist and work as intended - this is not... More

Where do I start? I live in Central Otago and travel often for business. I stay in places all over the bottom of the South Island and just wish they were all this fabulous! I had a new motel room which has a gorgeous view out across the paddocks, lake and nearby hills, and that's just the start. The studio... More

Was booked in for two nights as a couple in a tourist cabin. The only reason we stayed there was all other accomodation was booked out in Lake Tekepo and Twizel. The cabin was very small, rundown with two double bunks and a double bed bunk with a bunk above that. There was a TV which I had to get... More

the camp should be bought up to some sort of standard. This is a large campground offering very little in the way of bathroom/kitchen facilities. The whole camp is out of keeping with this beautiful area......rumpity old vans that are set up around the camp and their makeshift fencing falling down. Don't usually have a problem with dogs but here... More

very comfortable bed in the motel and rain on the roof in the morning - what more could you want! Lovely hot shower with good pressure and very clean, modern facilities. We will be back for a longer stay, thanks so much..
