Have stayed here before in a motel unit and enjoyed ourselves. This time, stayed in a 'heated' cabin with two additional friends. Heating consisted of a wall mounted fan heater which pointed directly at a power outlet. Needless to say this, combined with the recently burned down next-door cabin and lack of smoke alarm, did not give us the confidence... More

Arrived to our cabin, located next to the wreckage of another, freshly burnt-down cabin. There was no smoke-alarm in our cabin and the heating (it was advertised as "heated") consisted of a very small and cheap heater fixed to the wall. After our first night we asked to be refunded for the following night half an hour after the stated... More

We stayed for new years and have good and bad things to say about the place. Great memories catching up with friends. Awesome new shower and toilet block. BUT and its a big BUT, dont tell everyone that they can camp anywhere they like and then threaten eviction when we have a few drinks and someone around us gets a... More

Being on a self-drive tour, we arrived at Lake Tekapo to discover there was no room at the inn - any of the inns - so we were directed to the Holiday Park at Twizel - the only accommodation available for many kilometres in any direction. We were not hopeful, but fairly desperate. However, we found a little gem. The... More

The cabins are no bigger than a garden shed, a door that does not seal properly so flying cockroaches came in along with Mosquitos so not a good nights sleep. The following night we stayed in the motel, which is new and very spacious there was just no comparison between the two so do yourself a favour and stay in... More

Stayed at this park initially in a campervan & then later in a tourist cabin. Very much enjoyed the hospitality of Tony - a fantastic bloke who took the time to drive us around & show us things we were interested in. The tourist cabins are basic but contain all you need with very comfy beds. The communal kitchen is... More

We have stayed in double Tourist cabin . There was a bunk bed : double plus single. The mattress was horrible. The walls were peeling and we were afraid to touch the window so it wouldn't be broken. There was a TV in the room that we thought would rather be there as an antique decoration than something worse mentioning "TV... More

After being disappointed at the lack of 'family facilities' at another Twizel camping ground, we went to Lake Ruataniwha holiday park and were so pleased we did. A very warm welcome, heaps of space to choose from, and lots to keep the kids happy. We were in a tent and found a lovely spot among the trees, away from others,... More

We booked here with mixed feelings as we had read reviews and were a bit concerned re permanent residents and basic facilities. However we decided to stay here as heard that camp in town was crowded and noisy. Well we were pleasantly surprised, it is a beautiful setting by the Lake, of course you can't see the Lake from most... More

This was our second night in the South Island and we were a bit dissapointed with this park. The amenities were clean but very basic. The park was like it had been lifted up from the 50's and put back down in 2013. The price wasn't though. It was one of our most expensive nights and the most basic.
