Broke our journey to Christchurch by staying at Twizel for 2 nights. Our first choice of town/village was Tekapo but we could not find accommodation. So glad we went to Twizel as a good base for visting Mount Cooke. The accommodation was good, a spacious room with all the amenities for self catering that we needed, Including a cooker. It... More

Well equipped and comfortable. Loads of space, great heat (on this cool May evening) and a kitchen, to boot! Complimentary coffee and tea. Warm host (Stu). Well groomed property. First hotel I've encountered that invites travellers to please come in and inspect rooms. Now, that's confidence!

No complaints at all. The photo of this place just does not do it justice! The owners were lovely. We were let into our into at 11am instead of the usual 2pm which I thought was brilliant. One minute walk to eating places and shops. Clean, tidy, roomy, lots of parking, easy to find, very comfortable, definately cheap for five... More

We stayed here for two nights as a base for visiting Mount Cook. Our room was spacious, very clean, comfortable and very well equipped even having a full cooker. It was great to have 'proper' broadband access without having to bother with annoying usernames, passwords and time or data limits. The owners Stu & Chris are very friendly and helpful.

Instead of staying in the expensive Mt Cook village, my husband and I chose to stay at the Colonial Motel Twizel, driving up to Mt Cook the following day. We were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who was so friendly and welcoming. Good start. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was however a little... More

Stayed there with my family. Nice big two bedroom unit 4. Comfortable and near show. Stu and Chris and helpful and hospitable. Free WiFi available but rather limited connection. Sufficient for email. We will stay there again because of facilities and beautiful lakes

I spent one night here during a weekend. The owners were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, tidy and clean. A bit dated in the bathroom, which was on the small side, but fine for one person. It would take you one minute, two if you're slow to walk to the main square. Quiet in the evening.

We had taken our young family to this place years ago, and were impressed, so decided to give it another goe, now childless. We had a nicely appointed studio room, which was very clean and tidy, and so quiet! It is great being off the main road, yet so accessible to all the town amenities, as they are just around... More
