Very lovely, but overpriced. No question that the location is beautiful, but Paradise Island (Bahamas) is just as lovely and better priced. This is one of the least expensive "U.S." areas, they don't need to put a bottle of water in your room and charge $8.00 for it. The place was nearly empty, and won't make it unless they have... This place is great on off-weeks. We stayed the week before Presidents Day week. It was great being able to walk into restaurants without reservation, waking up any time without the burden of having to get a seat at beach/pool. No lines at water park or Palomino ferry. Palomino island was empty. We could play volley ball, rent jet ski,... More

The El Conquistador is an amazing resort that is fun for the entire family. My family vacationed at the resort last July and the kids continue to ask when will we be going back. The resort staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our kids range in age from 10 to 16 and there was fun for everyone. The hotel has... More

My husband and I stayed at the El Conquistador for 5 nights in February 2009. The resort has a magnificent setting, truly gorgeous, and Palomino Island is fantastic, but there are a lot of problems. Most have to do with management. The resort is under occupied and we suspect it is short staffed and it definitely overpriced for the services... More

The property is beautiful and includes many restaurants and shops, which is good because you definately don't want to go touring around the local town. The hotel security will tell you why if you really need to know. There is much to do at this resort if you can drag yourself away from the panoramic views of the ocean. The... More

We had a great time at this resort until I got back and realized I had BED BUG bites all over. We read a couple of reviews that said some people got ant bites, and I was praying that's what I had, but I just went to the doctor and she said they are pretty classic bed bug bites. I... More

We went there on our honeymoon and stayed 6 day's. It is a bit overwhelming, the physical layout, and it took 3 or 4 day's to really get comfortable and remember exacltly how to get everywhere. Having said that, it is really quite different to take the cable car's down the cliff, an easy 2 minute ride, the ferry to... More

We first visited El Conquistador 7 years ago and while we had a great time, we were a bit underwhelmed. At that time it was owned by Wyndham. The resort is now owned by LXR and was completely renovated within the last 1.5 years and it's now just gorgeous. We stayed in the La Marina portion of the resort, which... More

We stayed with a group of family for the week following xmas, over New Year's. While we enjoyed our week together, we were disappointed with the resort and won't return. Overall, we felt that it was comparable to an all-inclusive or a similarly mid-range hotel; had we paid a "budget" price, we would have been satisfied with our experience. It's... More
