I stayed here for one night when dining locally for our work Christmas meal. I was working in Stowmarket on the day of our meal and again the next morning so decided to stay over night to reduce my traveling and tiredness. The room was comfortable and homely to say the least. It was very clean and I loved the... More

We stayed at Haughley House on Friday/Saturday 29th & 30th Dec 2014. The room we had was the four poster room which was magnificent. It was absolutely great to get in a bed with proper bedding instead of a quilt like they all seem to have nowadays. The house itself is fabulous and full of family and local history. The... More

Dear Bryan Many thanks for your kind review - pleased you liked the sheets and blankets rather than a duvet! Hoping to welcome you back here in the future. Regards Caroline More

I travelled to Suffolk on business and chose Haughley House for something different from the usual 'business' hotels I get to stay in every week. This was a hotel stay that few hotels (and I have stayed in a lot, of all star ratings) would match for charm and service. Caroline and Jeffrey devote themselves to making a stay at... More

Fantastic property, full of character, beautiful rooms and a fantastic welcome. The hosts were out of this world, breakfast was presented to a standard that would put many a top class hotel to shame. During our stay it was my partners birthday and our hosts provided a gift of some beautiful chocolates and a special birthday balloon a great gesture... More

Haughley House is an old house that exudes elegance and comfort. The charm and character of this Bed and Breakfast and the kindness of the owners will exceed your expectations. Caroline and Jeffrey are both excellent cooks. Dinner, our first night, consisted of an amazing tomato and red pepper soup, delicious fish accompanied by vegetables from the garden and a... More

I was in the UK recently for a business trip. Although most of my business centered around London and Northamptonshire, I decided to take a detour and see some of the countryside. I am so thankful that I chose to stop over in Stowmarket, Suffolk County, and stay overnight at the Haughley House. This was probably the nicest part of... More

Very nice bed and breakfast in lovely old house, with a very comfortable bedroom, but the dinner was totally exorbitant: £32 per head for a lacklustre meal with everything piled on the plate. Although there was an impressive diploma displayed in the breakfast room for expertise in cheeses, no cheese of any kind appeared at the evening meal. The host... More

This couple who stayed for one night had for dinner: a chilled tomato and red pepper soup, the ingredients of which came out of our garden, served with a swirl of cream and homemade bread, the organic flour of which comes from a local windmill. The main course was local free range chicken breast in an orange and sage sauce,... More

My wife and I arrived late on the afternoon of Saturday, 2nd. August for a 3 night visit. We had very high expectations. Our expectations were well exceeded. No sooner had we come out of our car, than we were greeted most cordially by Mrs. Bowden, whom from now on I will call Caroline, and who insisted on carrying some... More

I got married last month and our guests used three local B and B's, In no particular order - The travelodge - okay, so not officially s B and B but my description in the invite of 'cheap and cheerful', judging from guests comments, was obviously a bit optimistic. Haughley House - absolutely brilliant house (and home produced breakfast) but... More

Mervyn, who lives within walking distance, actually stayed here with his bride 6 weeks ago, although he writes as though it was one of his guests who stayed here. Therefore it is impossible for Mervyn to compare us with the two other properties that he has included in the review. He was told before he booked that we do not... More

I was looking for a B & B in Haughley as a good friend was celebrating his 60th locally but did not have enough room in his house to put me up. So I looked up this place on bookings.com and found that it was only just over a mile away from the scene of the party so booked it... More
