We stayed in Castle Durrow for a wedding in August. It was a most wonderful experience. The rooms are fabulous, the food was excellent but above all of that the staff were so so attentive and helpful. I would definitely recommend a stay in Castle Durrow.

From the moment we arrived in Castle Durrow, we fell in love with this beautiful castle. We stayed in a room in the main house and it was like stepping back in time...but with every modern comfort. Every detail in the room was perfect. Our view was over the manicured castle gardens. The rooms throughout the castle have little nooks... More

Just back from a stay in Castle Durrow in Co. Laois which overlooks the River Erkina. We got a great welcome on arrival which is always great. We were at a wedding here a few years back, which was very enjoyable The bedroom was very spacious as was the bathroom, both having wooden floors. Bottled water and fruit was on... More

I stayed at castle durrow August 23 for a wedding. Loved the place, loved the food, staff so friendly and helpful. However I found the dated velvet chairs in the area of the bar incredibley uncomfortable, could benefit from a reupholster.

My wife and I married here 3 years ago, we have visited many times since along with the rest of our family who have visited since on many occasions. We always find the hospitable, friendly service to be of the highest standard - we're treated like an extended, visiting family and it's always nice to catch up with everyone. We... More

Castle Durrow is situated in the small town of Durrow in Co. Laois, about a 90 minute drive away from Dublin. The hotel itself sits in extensive well-manicured grounds, and there are some very beautiful gardens to the rear of the hotel. Our room was very generously sized, and has a very comfortable king-sized 4-post bed. Over the August Bank... More

Castle Durrow is a lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings in County Laois, Ireland. It is a classic castle design built in the 18th century. The entrance is spectacular as you drive up to reception. Rooms are old style, wooden floors which can be squeaky but authentic. The decor of the hotel is interesting, lots of old antique furniture and... More

Excellence in every area of hospitality might start to sum up our experience of Castle Durrow. In fact, superlatives may fail me in my review. My wife and I held our wedding here in May 2014. The fine website certainly gives a good impression of the magnificence of the buildings, rooms and grounds however, visiting in the depths of winter, 18... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castle Durrow is located in the heart of the village. A fully restored, magnificent 300 year old Mansion with luxurious bedrooms each with their own atmosphere. Our restaurant is located in stunning south-facing rooms, decorated with mirrors and hand blocked wallpaper, our head chef creates delicious seasonal menus, popular with visitors and locals alike. We are a terrific place to relax and let romance and Guinness de-stress the mind and body in our cosy bar and reception rooms. In the Magnificent garden, with fabulous scented borders and a walled garden, from where our chefs pick their daily produce, you can stroll around for hours or have a more vigorous walk by the river and in the hills adjoining the castle. A stay at the castle with Dinner and some romance would not be complete without a beauty treatment in our salon , aptly named the Powder box ! ... more   less
