This hotel was just openning. It is not far from the airport, but the beach is not very clean. Nice swimming-pool, staff is nice. There were nasty smells in the bathrooms. We spent new years day and the buffet was nice.

This is a lovely hotel on the best part of this long beach. The rooms are all garden view unless you specify a beachfront cabana. I ended up facing a brick wall even though I had a cabana. Well, I still liked it. Odd but true. The group of hotels further down the beach all have beach hut restaurants in... More

We stayed at the Amata for three nights at the end of our tour of Myanmar and it was certainly a perfect way to relax after a busy two weeks. In fact most people at the resort had also come to the end of their trip, and we were envious of those who had had the foresight to book for... More

A very pretty hotel that manages to get some things perfect and others wildly off target. On target are the grounds, the reception area, the infinity pool, the restaurant and its location on the beach. Off target are the rooms. Whilst the rooms are large and well equipped, the layout and design is terrible. Entering the room, the sink was... More

Beautiful setting on a lovely, unspoiled beach; a lovely spacious room just back from the beach - some rooms set much better than others (avoid 101 right by kitchens and a couple of others in unenviable positions!) Laid back with unhurried pace, but expensive for drinks, though there is a Happy Hour. Pool small and in a poor setting, surrounded... More

A lovely tranquil beachside setting. The site and beach are kept immaculately clean by the 200 staff. Breakfast was excellent with both European and local food eaten looking over the beach. The staff were all helpful and charming. There is a tip box at reception so you don't have to keep giving individual tips. The rooms were cleaned in the... More

The soon we arrived at the airport, a coach was waiting to transfer us to the hotel. We arrived early in the morning and although our room was not ready, we managed to rent bicycles and cycled around Ngapali. We got our room at 1pm and the room is simply amazing. The size is perfect, the deco is elegant. The... More

The resort is stunning - well planned, beautiful gardens, nice slice of beach overall terrific. The service was the worst experienced in Burma. Not very helpful - when asking reception on restaurant recommendations stated we don't know any - and in general, was well, snobby and aloof. The first impression was good on the eyes but not on the ears.... More

We were originally booked into the Bayview but due to poor organisation by our travel agent in London (do not use Elegant Travel!) we eventually booked in at the Amata. The reception staff were very understanding and helpful but the hotel was very full so we had to accept that we would have to change rooms - twice! We therefore... More

We stayed here after staying next door at Sandoways. The room, although close to beach, was very damp and the bathroom was both exceptionally damp and smelt of damp The mosquito net was dusty and stuffy, sheets and duvet horrible, the towels so thin that you wipe your hands and the towel is soaking!! We complained and they brought us... More
