Thavansouk Resort (there also seems to be a Thavansouk Hotel) is magnificently located along the river, just where the tube-floaters and kayakers end their trip. Motorized boats leave nearby. This implies always lively views from the terrace and restaurant area, in addition to the wonderful surroundings with the characteristic limestone mountains. It is great to sit there, have a cold... Right on the river front and great views of the river and sunset. The rooms are very basic but just about adequate though it would have been good to have a mosquito net - there was a hook in the ceiling but no net. We were kept awake by a party in the room below us and as there is... More

Thavonsouk was a lovely hotel, very beautiful and classy and had great rooms. The breakfast was great and the staff were always ready to help, give advice on things to do in the area and tell us some local secrets. The plus was also a room where valuables could be kept in a safe until departure. The location on the... More

Excellent location away from the maddening crowds of the town. Many cottages and rooms here but for a bit extra, stay facing the river with your own deck and view. The staff was very friendly, helpful and willing to accommodate our requests. The breakfast was fine but by no means exceptional. And, take the long boat rides next door!

we spent two nights in the Thavonsouk which is beautifully located on the river Song with a view to the picturesque mountains and valley entrance of Vang Vieng. If you want to stay away from the noisy town centre and the hammering disco sounds further up stream this is a good budget place. We had a simple room with a... More

Stayed two nights in a riverside 'bungalow'. More like a dark wooden box, with what Ruth described as an 'orange box' for a bed. Very basic amenities - no tea and coffee or safe. 2 iron sunbeds with no cushions on the small balcony. (Although the manager did bring us two later telling us that was 'all they had in... More

We spent three nights at the Thavonsouk. We had booked a river view bungalow here and certainly weren’t disappointed with the wonderful view from our balcony. (The rooms without a river view didn’t seem like they would be worth it – they appeared to be quite small and dark.) When we first checked in, the reception was a bit cold.... More

Not worth of the price. I paid USD 45 with such a room in Vang Vieng ! the only good thing is the space of the room and the view. Check the picture.... Walk-in price is cheaper (or for different room type? worse than the room i stayed?)

We were lucky enough to be in one of the riverfront bungalows and had a fabulous view of the river and mountains. We also had our own balcony, which was nice to sit out on and enjoy the serenity. The room itself was spacious and had a comfortable bed. Quite open and bright as it had glass doors and windows... More

We had a bungalow type on the 1st floor so we had a great view of the river and mountains. The room was beautiful and the bathroom as well with both shower and bath tub - however there was no kettle provided and the bathroom was kinda flooded when you shower as the water seeps out from the shower area....
