Hidden away off a dirt track, parallel to the water, we walked from where we were dropped off - about 20 minutes (VIP bus from Vientiane will drop you off at the bus station, then smaller buses will drop you off at a guest house on the side of town.) We were upgraded to a riverside room- lovely! Staff were... More

Four of us (two couples) spent a wonderful weekend here. The view is spectacular, the rooms very comfortable, the garden beautiful and the hosts welcoming. Breakfast is included and although basic it's fresh and more than adequate. We thought the real Lao coffee (with sweet milk) was especially good! The daughter of the owner who speaks excellent English was particularly... More

Very comfortable bungalow room with a porch for relaxing on, viewing the Nam Song River and the hot air balloons passing over and one of our fellow travellers arriving from his kayak ride. Not a great breakfast, fortunately it was walking distance to town, because coffee was terrible.

If you want to be close to the Mekong and hosted by a great family and team think no more than Thavonsouk. David helped me organise accommodation for our group of 22 and everything went according to plan. I'd say that the only draw back was that people who got the riverside room 1 & 2 got an older bungalow... More

My wife and I booked this via the web and paid a fair sum per day, so had higher expectations than was delivered. Rooms are good, spacious, clean and the bed comfortable. However the breakfast was very basic for this price premium location. Staff friendly and helpful. We can't put our finger on it, just that it didn't meet our... More

The resort has many different kinds of bungalows/rooms which are quite different form each other, which might explain the variety of reviews here. As previous customers have said the view from the resort is lovely but please note you won't have this view from every bungalow, only from the riverside ones. The rest of the accommodation is set on a... More

Skip this hotel if you can. The beds were so old and uncomfortable we had them changed which was a bit of an improvement. Breakfast was basic. The eggs had been precooked and looked a bit tired. Shame as the hotel position is really nice.

Well maintained gardens and great view but would not stay here again. The standard room did not have a fridge, the TV didn't work and the hot water was unreliable. Wi Fi reception did not work most of the time. The bed was rock hard and the pillows may as well have been besser blocks. The staff did not seem to... More

We spent two nights at the Thavansouk and had an excellent stay. The bungalows are lovely, the resort is very well landscaped, and many rooms have stunning views across the river and the distant mountains (viewed from some very comfortable chairs from our room's private balcony!). We had some minor language difficulties with some of the staff but they were... More

Situated on the riverside, Thavonsouk Resort arguably has the best view in Vang Vieng looking across the river & paddy fields with the spectacular Karste Mountains as a backdrop. The owners & staff were attentive and friendly and any problems I had were immediately dealt with. The Resort which is locared a 5 minute walk from the town centre is... More
