We really enjoyed our time at El Karama - everything was so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed with our children (9 and 12) who were very much welcomed - the staff were so good, helping them to fish, taking us on a safari walk and also taking us to visit the farm (this is definitely worth building in, if you... The staff were friendly and and the accommodation...was sooo relaxing...the game was also awesome.. The El karama Eco lodge is also easily accessible through a well mentioned all weather road. The view of the second tallest mountain Mt. Kenya...is magnificent... And the sundowner site..was just breath taking!! Try the place and you will never be disappointed. My best regards, James... El Karama is located within the Laikipia district in Kenya. It is set in a 40,000 square km of ecosystem and offers a truly unique safari experience. The lodge is pretty small in size offering around four tents that sleep two people, a small little cottage with its en-suite as a smaller outhouse next to it, and a larger cottage... More

We came here on recommendation from a friend and not really sure what to expect, we arrived at night after a very long drive. (I wouldn't recommend driving at dusk/night as there is a 15km drive on a dirt track though the bush). We were greeted by the exceptionally friendly staff and shown to our jaw-dropping family cabin. Hoping to... More

The only way our stay with El K could have been better is if it was longer! Beautiful property and exceptionally kind and professional staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive, we felt very well taken care of and they ensured a relaxing stay. The walk with Joseph was particularly lovely, he was delightful and knowledgeable. We stayed in the family... More

El Karama lodge has found that great mix of serenity and simplicity whilst not being too luxurious or simple. The balance is just right. The staff were excellent - forthcoming when required and left guests in peace at the same time. Food was very nice, including fresh produce from the ranch. Accommodation ranges from perfect for a family (Upstream Cottage... More

El Karama is my favourite lodge in Kenya. Its gorgeous, the bandas are beautiful and luxurious, and the staff cannot do more to make you feel welcome and comfortable. And best of all the reserve has SO many animals! Every time I go (I've gone back 4 times now!) the amount of wildlife is always amazing. For Kenyan residents the... More

Whilst at El Karama, I got the impression that most people use this as an overnight stop, or just spend a couple of nights here to rest up before heading further on. We took a chance and booked a 4 night stay, based on other reviews. I am so glad we did. We really felt we got to know the... More

El Karama really deserves 6/5 stars, rather than just 5/5. The location is beautiful. The grounds and architecture complement the land brilliantly. The place is very clean and the staff/management are very friendly and attentive to the needs of the guests. The food is quite frankly excellent; the best I have experienced so far among other similar locations in Laikipia.... More

El Karama is a real african ecco lodge/camp that offers very good wild-life drives. The setting and camp location is perfect; right beside the river. The swimming pool is very nice and perfect for a refreshing splash after a morning drive. An individual in our party had a bad luck to have stayed in a smaller stone hut which didn't... More
