El Karama is a real african ecco lodge/camp that offers very good wild-life drives. The setting and camp location is perfect; right beside the river. The swimming pool is very nice and perfect for a refreshing splash after a morning drive. An individual in our party had a bad luck to have stayed in a smaller stone hut which didn't... More

A super stay. Staff and owners could not have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable (and fat!). Great pool, great bandas, great food, great guide, great animals. This place was not so pristine as Lewa but was no less wonderful. It has a charm of its own and I wopuld like to go back.

We arrived at El Karama Eco Lodge later then anticipated because of the fantastic amount of wildlife we viewed on the way in. Elephants chasing duck at the water hole, both zebra, Grevys and Common, drinking side by side neatly lined up, reticulated giraffe awkwardly joining the zebra for an evening drink their long legs straddled and leven onger necks... I had the chance to visit the El Karama Ranch after approx., 15 years. Wow this place has changed. Its just beautiful. Even if you do not go on a "game drive" you will not get bored just staying and relaxing at this place. Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner=Excellent. Rooms are very good as well the washroom facilities. It is... More

We left El Karama yesterday morning (28th April 2014). I can't believe its just over 24 hours since I watched giraffe browsing with Mt Kenya as a back drop, now at my desk in Joburg! We are a family of 4, with children of 2.5 and 5.5. We combined El Karama with Laikipia Wilderness Camp and it proved to be... More

Managing the perfect balance of luxury lodge living with good design, great people and ecological principles is no mean feat. Well done on a lovely place, this is safari at its best. Laikipia really is a wonderful region. The new addition since the other reviews is the pool, carefully designed to be aesthetic yet chemical free, in line with the... More

This 10,000+ acre working ranch shares a rich population of 'plains game' and makes a fine safari destination without any of the hassle of jostling mini-buses; indeed we were the only people there for 2 days! The elephant need and deserve more respect than their cousins in Samburu but, since plentiful, are easy to enjoy. African Hunting Dogs kindly passed... More

My wife daughter and I had three nights at this wonderful place which provides personalized service which was quite exceptional. Our rooms were charmingly decorated, spacious and beautifully sited, over looking grassland leading down to the river. It felt very intimate with a small number of rooms and guests, which suited us perfectly as we all enjoyed each others company... More

Wonderful setting with wonderful, friendly people and great food. Michael is a great chef and Lovii is a wonderful host. Joseph was our guide and we had some great hikes. My only disapointment was that we did not see feline predators and coudl not walk in the valley bottoms becasue of the danger of buffalo and hippos. The Bandas are... More
