Back after 20 years and what a disapointment. The setting is still one of the best in Africa, but they refurbished the hotel (which was badly needed, indeed) into the same standard rooms you can find in any five star hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Quebec or London. Ugly no-style copies of pseudo French Louis what-so-ever furniture. Open fire with fake... more

The hotel grounds are pretty but the rooms are very lodgey! They were remodeling some of their rooms: the suites but that was it. The hotel needs a major upgrade. The food staff just can't wait for you to eat and leave. I'm not sure wgere you should stay in the area but rethink unless you like that lodgey experience. more

I stayed at the Mount Kenya Safari Club December 2006. As part of a long Safari trip. It was like going back in time to the old Colonial days, when the British built splendid retreats in Africa, in luxuriouse surroundings. The Mount Kenya Safari Club is just that. Set in beautiful landscape gardens at the foot of Mount Kenya. with... more

My wife and I returned to Kenya for our 40th wedding anniversary (we met here). Staff and hotel were wonderful, manager found that we knew Kenya and arranged flowers to be provided at our next hotel!! Be warned, evenings can be cold, but wonderful fire in our banda (bungalow in Swahili) kept us snug. Magnificent views, get up early for... more

Our first night in Kenya was at The Safari Club. It is in a class of its own and even though there was building works in progress it did not spoil it. Our bungalow was lovely and the nights to us were still warm but we couldn't resist having the log fire lit. The bathroom was clean and we had... more

Superb grounds, riverview cottages are fantastic with fireplaces that they light each night. Hot water bottles in the bed to keep you warm. Food was great at dinner. A must is to visit the animal orphanage founded by Stephanie Powers. Hotel has the feel of the movie era it was created in by William Holden. Staff was friendly and accomodating.... more

We stayed here for 1 night as part of a safari across Kenya. Despite undergoing refurbishment, the hotel us a fabulous place! The rooms are huge with a log fire which (can be lit on request) and a bathroom with a sunken bath as well as a shower, twin washbasins, toilet and bidet. The extensive grounds are very well maintained,... more

I'm Kenyan. I and family visited the famous Mount Kenya Safari Club in October 2006 for a couple of days. The hotel is built like a romantic chateau and has the best gardens in East Africa. It is particularly great for kids. The golf course is not demanding but allows the addicts to get their fix. the food is not... more

The whole place was stunning. I stayed in a riverside lodge with a bathroom out of Dallas or Dynasty and an open fire that was lit every night. The golf course is very special too. But I would echo others' complaints about the food. They serve exactly the same menu every other night. In other words, you eat exactly the... more

We stayed here on the 3rd night of our safari tour & were bowled over with how beautiful the grounds are at this hotel. The weather was stunning & we had fabulous views of Mount Kenya. The only downside were that we shared a cottage with another couple on our tour and ended up with twin beds, not something we... more
