My husband and I stayed Saturday 9th August for one night. The young girls running the bar and restaurant, are a credit to this Inn, being friendly, helpful and polite. The food was plentiful, excellent quality and cooked to perfection. I had the Asian Duck Salad and Belly Pork, both were exceptional dishes, my husband had the Salmon and Crayfish... More

Booked for an annversary meal on a Saturday evening. Being a local I have eaten several times at the Houblon. In fact our friends owned it at one point. This was our first and I can guarantee last visit under its new ownership. The food was good, service fine. Nice girls probably students serving. Menu limited with an Asian influence.... More

Myself and a group of friends arrived on a Friday evening. The pub was buzzing with friendly locals who quickly engaged in friendly conversation with us. The food was perfect, Michelin quality with a good quantity which pleased both the men and women. Would really recommend this traditional quaint pub to anyone. John the owner and chef even came to... My partner and I decided to try somewhere different for dinner and several of our friends suggested we try here. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who swiftly took a drinks order. We then looked at the menu, this took a while as we would have tried everything in there. We decided ordering different starters, different mains and... More

Last minute booking for 13:30 - 3 x roast beefs with Yorkshire pudding, watercress, carrots, beans & cauliflower cheese with a rich beef gravy jus. Absolutely hit the spot. Hot treacle pudding in caramel sauce with Clotted cream. Plus a good ice cream selection. And they serve a good pint - Timothy tailors or black sheep ale. Been here lots... More

We broke our journey between Norwich and North Wales at this perfect, peaceful, location. Welcomed by John, who I think I am right in understanding to be the owner and chef, we were shown to our room in a restored building across the car park from the the pub/restaurant. The room (2) was spacious, nicely decorated with beamed ceilings, well... More

We were two couples who arrived without a reservation, not to be advised though, for a meal, fortunately they were able to book us in to the last table available. The food was excellent, I had a pasta and olive dish whilst others had steak and red snapper. All cooked with perfection and served by helpful happy staff. Do not... More

What a hidden gem - lovely, traditional B and B. Perfectly adequate continental breakfast and the price was very reasonable. The large room was separate from the main building thus making it very quiet. The shower room and toilet seemed a little tired, but were, again, perfectly adequate and very clean with plenty of hot water. The bed was very... More

Stayed here for 1 night as needed a bed for the night as was visiting family. Chose this venue as it was a reasonable price on last minute website. The rooms are separate from the pub and in a converted barn. We had a very large room so there was plenty of room for our travel cot. The room is... More

Came out for a pint, when we asked the girl behind the bar where was best to sit with our drinks we were ushered out to the beer garden. Got the distinct impression that drinkers are rather less welcome than diners, which is a great shame. At least one of the ashtrays outside was overflowing to ridiculous levels and at... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Houblon Inn - A traditional country inn with a modern twist. WELCOME! Step into the idyllic setting of the 17th-century Houblon Inn and take a step back in time into one of Lincolnshire’s most traditional and snuggest of pubs. Nestling in the picturesque stone village of Oasby, the Houblon is surely the quintessential English country pub, replete with real ales, fine food, low beams and a huge open fire. Once seen and experienced, it lingers long in the memory and enjoys a devoted following from locals and visitors alike. New proprietor Ian Grant and his partner Linda are delighted to be breathing new life into such a beautiful place, so powerfully resonant of rural history and tradition. Renowned all over Lincolnshire for our food and ales – with Everard’s Tiger, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor’s Landlord always available, alongside a different guest ale every week – our seasonal and eclectic menu is designed to appeal to a variety of tastes, with our ever-popular Lincolnshire sausage and mash with red wine gravy, warm chorizo-based house salad and supreme of chicken with asparagus and cream cheese mousse, happily appearing alongside fresh seafood, pork belly, sirloin steak, braised lamb, cheese soufflé, goat’s cheese tomato and red onion salad and our renowned roast joints which are the centrepiece of our Sunday lunches. Indulge yourself with our hand cut chips and homemade soups and breads and stay awhile to enjoy the ambiance of this most charming inn. The lovely oak-beamed restaurant adjacent to the bar – which can seat around 30 people – offers a perfect and memorable venue for small functions, meetings and special occasions and celebrations and has already happily accommodated many birthday, retirement and wedding celebrations and receptions. A pretty garden and boules court offers an attractive outdoor space which can be utilised alongside summer functions, offering comfortable wooden tables and chairs amidst a plethora of attractive flower beds. Four large attractive guest rooms – also featuring stone walls and oak beams – offer comfortable accommodation and make for the perfect break when combined with the real food and real ales which are the hallmark of the Houblon. Our beautiful hideaway inn may be one of Lincolnshire’s best-kept secrets. Let us share it with you. ... more   less
