For 35 years I have spent summers and winters in Yosemite, both The Valley and High Sierra Camp....but never beyond Tuloumne. Finally we did "The Loop"...Every aspect of our treck to each of the high sierra camps was wonderful and magical

Sunrise Camp is in a beautiful setting, worth the effort of hiking in and out. Food is amazing, too. Staff are very helpful in suggesting and describing hikes. Vogelsang is also stunning, though a higher elevation.

We stayed at Glen Aulin, where the waterfall was our background sound and at May Lake where the full moon reflected the mountain tops in exact form back in the water. Staff were extremely helpful and every night and morning the food was incredibly good.

Absolutely amazing trip. Landscapes, guides, food: everything was incredible! We stayed in the following camps: Glen Aulin, May lake, Sun Rise. Each one is different (waterfall, lake, plateau). It is the very best way to leave a real Yosemite experience (unlike in the valley...)

Tough hikes, with no need to carry shelter or meals, each day arriving to wonderful hospitality and shelter. I'd prefer to give it a low rating so as to keep the High Sierra Camps the best kept secret around. The lack of crowds is a significant lure to these camps, yet the capacity is set just right for good company.

These camps are the ultimate way to enjoy the backcountry and still have creature comforts. Food, service and lodging are beyond what you might expect. As a single female travelling alone it took any worry out of setting up camp alone. As an added benefit, if you do not show up at one of the camps, they will send folks... More

This was my first stay at a High Sierra Camp. I was exceptionally impressed and pleased. And I'd come with high expectations based upon comments from friends. The staff were all the finest and the facilities meticulously maintained. Everything seemed effortless to the visitor, which was amazing in this remote and spectacular remote location. Food was exceptional and varied --... More

A friend and I backpacked to the four High Sierra camps. We pitched our tents in the campgrounds, and ate dinners and breakfasts in the dining rooms. The food was excellent and all we could eat. It was a real treat to be in the Sierra back country and have a very fresh salad with every dinner. Every meal was... More

Love to back pack but can't handle the weight any more (or tired of sleeping on a thin mattress)? This is the place. Great food. Hot showers. Ideal location. Fantastic day hikes. It is a grueling hike to get there, so you do need to be in shape.

This was a decidedly mixed experience for us. We're used to backpacking, so it was something of a luxury not to have to carry a tent and sleeping bag, and get to stay in a tent with a bed and stove. The downside of that is that you're sharing that tent with strangers and there's basically no privacy. If you're... More
