This hotel is breathtaking at first glance! It is so beautiful and seems to be a snapshot of Victorian history. We didn't book far enough in advance (even though we booked 4 months prior to our trip) so we had a room with no bathroom, which was a pain. Also, there is NOTHING around the hotel, besides one gas station.... more

We stayed at the Wawona hotel four nights and really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to others that like old-fashioned places like we do. The big pluses were the wrap-around porches on both floors and the pleasant view of trees and lawn. We sat there in the evenings and relaxed away from the Yosemite Valley crowd. Guests were from... more

The bottom line is that you don't have much of a choice inside Yosemite National Park. It is a beautiful place and I highly recommend going, however, I would not stay at the Wawona Hotel. First of all there is major construction work being done on the only road from the Valley to the hotel and it took us about... more

Choose any other hotel in the Yosemite area. The supervision/management at this hotel has serious problems. Most of the staff are great, provided the supervisor isn't yelling at them or trying to hit on them. Rooms are quaint and ok for the locale. Facilities are ok, but stay away from the gym as it's a local parking spot for the... more

Was with other family members for a short trip to Yosemite on Tuesday and Wed nights this month. Couldn't find lodging in the Valley so we chose the Wawona. This is just a short review. It's a long drive on a windy road from the Valley, with lots of dust from the many areas that are under construction. Parts of... more

There are not many hotel options within Yosemite park. We chose this hotel for proximity to the giant trees. On that note, it's a fantastic place to stay. The hotel was built in the 1800's, so of course it's old and shows it's age. I booked the cheapest room I could find, $150 a night with a shared bath. The... more

We ended up at Wawona for an overnight stay as we arrived late-ish into Yosemite and decided not to backtrack or to travel the hour or so into the Valley for accomodation. (Found out later that all other accom. was booked out anyway). We got a room with a single and queen sized bed with a shared bathroom, on the... more

our trip was for the purpose of relaxation, and seeing the beautiful sights of yosemite. positives of this hotel: very friendly and happy-to-help staff, including cindy, colleen, robin, brittany, mae, cierra, heather, and tom. (yes, every staff member introduced themselves and went out of their way to make guests as comfortable as possible); peaceful and scenic setting, talented pianist/vocalist sharing... more

This hotel is very old and the accommodation has not changed much since it was built. If you did not expect this you may be quite taken aback. The room was SMALL, and i mean tiny. We had a cot in there and could not crawl around the bed or fit both suitcases on the floor. The hotel is not... more

I laughed out loud at the people griping about having to pay such money for something that isn't the W Yosemite. You're in Yosemite National Park. Your alternatives, unless you manage to snag a $500 room at the Ahwahnee, are even more basic accommodation (Curry Village, the Housekeeping Camp) or flat-out camping. The Wawona Hotel is an historical building in... more
