I've been to Yosemite several times before, so I have definitely experienced staying in the Valley. Although the view is much better over there, sites are tiny. Hodgdon Meadows is a great place for groups and it is pleasantly different! We had plenty of space to spread out and met a few friendly neighbors. The meadow is a short walk... More

We had a "walk-in" campsite which wasn't too far from the car. However, it was down a hill. Given they were very clear about not leaving coolers or any food in the car, it took some effort to haul everything down the hill to store in the bear box. Do pay attention when they tell you squirrels will get in... More

We did camping on the 4th of July and were pleasantly surprised how peaceful it was compared to other camping sites. It's a little far from the valley and visitor's center, but so worth it! We were lucky to book a spot that was a away from everybody so we can rest after all the hiking trips. The spot comes... More

I thought we had missed out when we couldn't get a campsite in the valley. Boy was I wrong!!! I drove through Upper/Lower Pines campgrounds, and it was hot and LOUD. Hodgdon Meadow was perfectly placed to head anywhere without having to backtrack to other roads. It was around 7000 feet elevation, so it still got cool in the evenings... More

At least in the C loop, 2 or 3 sites will share the same area. Groups of sites are separated by signs saying "Site boundary". This might be fine if you want to camp as a group, but is not so awesome if you just want to do your own thing.

Perfect campground for sightseeing the valley before going on Tioga road. Its 30-minutes-drive from the valley itself makes it less crowded than the other lodging. Spots are kind of secluded, in the shade of trees and never too far from restrooms or dumpsters. We stayed in spot #36 which is not very flat but far from the entrance so pretty... More

This place isn't the best, but it was the best that I could get on the short time frame that I had. It is around 30 minutes away from Yosemite Valley so you have to drive for quite a ways before you get to see anything in the morning. The roads in the campground are not great and parking is... I had spot #30. I loved it. 29 and 31 were good as well. Flat for the most part, not too far away from the bathroom but far enough away. The dumpsters were kind of close and can be noisey early in the morning, but get up, start your day! It was kind of private as the campground is quite... More

We've stayed in this campground for the majority of visits over the last 30 years. It is beautiful! Some of the sites are a bit sloped, and you might want to get some advice on the best tent sites before you go tent camping, but it has always been my favorite campground to stay in. Not as crowded as the... More

The campsite itself was fine--although being one of the first sites in the loop we had a bit of a walk to the restrooms. The distance itself would not have been a problem, but we had to walk through other visitors' campsites to get to the restroom. Our greatest disappointment was the length of the drive to the Valley. I... More
