My positive comments relate to the setting, not the campground. Tuolumne Meadows is a gorgeous area. As others have mentioned, the area is less crowded than Yosemite Valley (about 1.5 hours away). The scenery is different than the valley, unique in its own way. The campground is situated on a gentle slope in a great location for hiking, climbing, etc.... More

I LOVE Tuolumne. We've been 1 week a year for the past 5 years. This was the 1st place I camped at Yosemite & was in awe at the beauty and serenity of this place. We drove down to the valley once & it was not our style- very crowded & touristy. I love the isolation in Tuolumne because it... More

Tuolumne is a great campsite, especially after staying several nights at the overcrowded campsites of the Yosemite Valley. The sites are spaced apart decently and there are plenty of trees and undergrowth to give a little privacy. It wasn't overfilled the night of our stay either. The only downside is that you don't get to select your camp spot, it... More

Prior to visiting Tuolumne Meadows campground, I was a little concerned because of some of the review indicating that the campground was crowded and dirty. Now that I have been there, I feel very safe in recommending the campground to anyone. Please remember this is a campground, not a 5 star hotel. I do no think there are any showers... More

Tuolumne Meadows is a beautiful area within Yosemite, but the group sites were not commensurate to the location. Bathrooms were old and in need if upgrading, the campsite loop road is very dusty and the campsite itself is not very pretty. All in all, I really enjoyed exploring the area but was very disappointed in the camping. Tip: Bring lots... More

The location of this campground is wonderful. Loads of trailheads. While I read many reviews that recommend Loop A, I did not think that was the best area. We were originally assigned a very small campsite on a corner that held lots of traffic. We asked if we could move to the campsite next to it and had no problem... More

I don't do a lot of camping, especially when there are no showers. This trip we had a large group of people so we got a group site. The group sites are kind of in the middle of the campground surrounded by people. I liked it...not loved it. The Lyell Fork runs on the north side of the campground and... More

We were staying in Yosemite for 5 nights. Spent 3 nights in Wawona, and 2 nights here. We had reservations, but they just assign you a spot when you pull in. I'd never been before, so I'm not sure if you can request a site or not. We got put in site C92. The road is just like everyone here... More

We have spent one night (end of July) at Tuolumne Meadows Campground and it was a little disappointment. I know – lack of research. First of all, campground is far away (1.5 hour) from main Yosemite attractions, located in Yosemite Valley. Happily you can hike for example to Elizabeth Lake, as the trailhead you will find in B loop of... More

We spent 5 nights in Tuolumne Meadows campground. Spectacular setting! Facilities are well maintained; sites, toilets, garbage disposal, and bear lockers. Convenient to Park activities and store. We didn't see any bears during our stay, a sign of the good bear management being practiced by the park and campers! Close to stream and lots of hiking trails. Especially good location... More
