Coming from sea level on the East coast to Tuolumne Meadows in one day provides quite an adventure and thrill. Dealing with bear boxes and wood stoves presents challenges that are fun and funny. Eating meals int the dining hall was an opportunity to meet such interesting and exciting men, women, and children all ages and all walks of life.... More

I stayed here for a night near the end of a 250 mile backpacking trek of the John Muir Trail south to north. I was vey happy with the comfortable beds, clean cabin, hot showers, and expensive but hearty meal. Overall the staff was very nice, but I did witness a very disturbing transaction with one staff member. While waiting... More

One of my favorite places. You have to be up for the food hassle though. If you bring food, you can't cook it and it has to be stored in bear lockers. So a lot of energy goes into those logistics. I have eaten a couple times at the restaurant onsite, but was not impressed at all. There is a... More

The Tuolumne Meadows Lodge consists of a set of tent cabins and a dining facility, tiny store (postcards, etc.), restrooms and showers. As other reviewers have noted, it's very basic. Each tent cabin sleeps 4 and has a wood stove; restrooms and showers are in a central building. We didn't use the wood stove in the tent cabin, so we... More

The Tuolumne Lodge is a great place to base your 5 to 7 day hike around the High Sierra Camps. One day for a day-hike to begin acclimation to the altitude before starting out and a day to relax and celebrate with your hiking partners before heading to where ever "home" is. Rustic, funky and fun with hardy meals and... More

You stay in a canvas tent which is old and kind of stained and dirty and dark, though the cement floor is swept and the beds are neatly made and there are enough sleeping bags to keep warm. Also, there is a wood stove which you must use as it is imperative to keep warm in the chilly nights of... More

Camping without the fuss. Bedding is provided, but we were glad to have our own sleeping bags to spread over the blankets and comforter provided. Food good, but not varied for a long stay. Staff very gracious, if inexperienced. They aimed to please, and did what they could to make our stay wonderful, which it was. And the area is... More

We stayed one night in the Toulumne lodges on our way to the High Sierra Camps. I wish we could have stayed longer! These are canvas tents on a concrete floor with very basic interior (single beds, a cupboard and table). Compared to the lodges in Yosemite Valley, this was quiet and peaceful. we made a fire in the wood... More

This is the only non camping lodging available in Tuolumne Meadows. This is not a hotel/motel but a informal lodge type resort. The sleeping rooms are individual family tents that are assembled over their concrete pads each summer and disassembled each fall. The lodge consists of a registration/information desk, a small store with camping type supplies and gifts, and a... More

Beds are good. Bathroom smelled like propane gas and was unusable for our group due to the odor. Nice amenities (towels, blankets, matches, wood, cups, lantern). Nice picnic area near campfire along stream. Checkin was a little hassle and they refused to check me in when reservation was under my husbands name. Just an inconvenience. Nice sizes bear lockers in... More
