We stayed at the Tuolumne tent cabins at the Tuolumne Lodge August 17 to 20, 2009. The High Sierra is for people who have a true appreciation and reverence for the glory of Yosemite. The $100 per tent/night + food price is steep, but worth it if you want to escape the partying mob that is trampling Yosemite Valley. Reservations... more

First of all - this is camping, not a lodge. That said, this is a great choice for someone like me, and here's why... The actual tent has a concrete floor, raised cots with sheets and warm blankets, a pot belly stove supplied with wood, windows, and a door you can latch. It also has large gaps where insects/critters can... more

I'm not the biggest fan of the lodge, but if you want to hike this part of Yosemite (and there are many trailheads to outstanding day and overnight hikes), then it is worth staying here. The tent cabins are minimalistic, which isn't a problem in and of itself. But there are a lot of vermin ... it appears to me... more

Other than White Wolf or one of the high Sierra camps, this is the ultimate Yosemite experience. You are in the heart of the alpine section of the park. Spend the morning hiking, then grab an afternoon swim at Tenaya Lake (that's the swimming pool I reference below). The dinners are fantastic family-style experiences shared with new acquaintances. The showers... more

There is nothing short of heaven when you arrive at Tuolomne meadows. It is the gateway to excellent hikes, lakes, cascades and waterfalls. The smell of the pines in the air is intoxicating. The tent cabins are so quaint yet for some primitive. Cement floor bunks on springs wood burning stove (bring your own kindling) and no housekeeping service while... more

Our family of four (kids 8 and 11) enjoyed two nights at the Toulmne Lodge July 2008. Other reviewers have accurately described the tent cabin accomodations. Our tent had four single beds, a table, chair and a wood stove. It was clean and comfortable. We brought our sleeping bags and they came in handy for extra warmth. We had to... more

My husband and I stayed at the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge for five nights the end of June. I like camping, but this was much better, comfort-wise! The tent cabin came equipped with a table and chair and wood stove. We slept on the double bed and used the two singles as our "closets". We had brought sleeping bags, following a... more

As other reviewers have noted, the "lodge" is actually a series of tent cabins scattered around the hillsides. We spent a week in Yosemite and had no interest in staying in the craziness of the valley floor so spent two days and one night at this great location. The hiking options off the Tioga Road are endless and the lodge... more

the scenery in yosemite is breathtaking and you will need to remain in shape to explore all of the parks hikes. only 6% of yosemite is seen by the road, so plan on some major walking if staying there. There are mosiquitos present so pack accordingly, but the scenery is just beyond words. We traveled from the east entrance and... more

On our September 2006 trip to Yosemite, we stayed one night at the Tioga Pass Resort (see review), 2 nights at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, and 2 nights at the Yosemite Lodge in the Valley. Of all of these, my favorite was the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge! Of course, the Lodge is not actually a "Lodge"...rather, it is a large canvas tent,... more
