We decided to treat ourselves to one night at this unique hotel inside Yosemite National Park, and thought the building and the decor were fabulous. We ate in the restaurant at more expense but did enjoy our meal in the amazing dining room. The only thing that the hotel really falls down on is the service. Excluding the restaurant staff,... I travel alot but we just recently discovered Yosemite as a place we'd like to spend a significant amout of time (as I live in the bay area). We recently stayed at the Ahwahnee assuming it would turn into a place we'd stay a few times a year. I left with a bitter enough taste in my mouth, however, that... More

You know what they say.... real estate is location, location, location. Well, the Ahwahnee does have a monopoly on location... in the valley, walking distance to some of the most famed hiking in the world. We checked into the hotel late on July 4th weekend due to terrible traffic coming into the valley. They gave us the one room on... More

One of my favorite haunts in the world. When the world gets to be too much, this is where I want to go. Puts everything into perspective. Love the huge walk in fireplaces (~8 foot long, 5 foot deep) that burns real wood. That smell and crackle during a cold Christmas winter. Hotel serves an awesome dinner, and the Crème... More

My boyfriend and I had Sunday brunch at the Ahwahnee. We were tired of the mediocre food offered at the concessions at Curry Village, so we decided we'd try the "crown jewel" of Yosemite and we happily plunked down $100 for what we thought would be a great experience. What a huge mistake that was! We got food poisoning and... More

We stayed here the night before Christmas Eve because we love the beauty of Yosemite in the winter. The hotel was beautiful but our room on the fourth floor was completely unacceptable. The entire room smelled of turpentine from work being done in the hall and the smell was so overpowering we decided to ask for a room change. There... More

We stayed 3 nights in late June. We'd not seen availability online, but my husband kept calling the Ahwahnee reservation people several months in advance and got a cancellation. WHAT LUCK! We feel that in-valley location was crucial to the success of our stay: no need to drive an hour or more every morning and evening from remote lodgings, ability... More

Other National Park hotels that we have stayed at have been much better value for money. Yes, some are newer/smaller but this one is considerably overpriced (3-4 times more expensive). Yes, it does have stunning views but then so do the other National Park hotels. Other similar age hotels (Fairmonts etc) are also cheaper and of a lot better quality.... More

We stayed here for three nights and had an amazing time. The hotel has a lovely intimate quaint feel. The breakfast was excellent - dinner was expensive but also excellent. The service was great and the staff really friendly especially in the bar. Would love to return and stay longer

We recently returned from San Francisco and Yosemite. We spent three nights at the Ahwahnee. I made our reservation last November. I would have to agree with the reviewer who said Ahwahnee is not Chateau Lake Louise. But having spent one night in what amounted to a divey and foul smelling closet at El Tovar in the Grand Canyon, and... More
