The Ahwahnee is a hotel that has a storied past, fascinating historical items, and an unparalleled location. It was the perfect site for our family vacation with my parents and our 7 month old daughter to explore the park. All old hotels have endearing quirks, and the Ahwahnee is no exception. The hot water takes a little while in the... More

We stayed here overnight as part of a tour from San Francisco. Certainly it was nice to be in what is clearly an iconic and historic hotel but the best parts of the hotel are the public rooms so why stay there I wonder? Our room was perfectly pleasant but nothing special - quite small, no balcony of course and... More

I have always wanted to stay at the Awahnee, and finally I had the opportunity to do so and was incredibly disappointed. This is not a 5 star property - for $500 per night, I expected great service, wonderful accomodations, and good food. The service was very poor - housecleaning did a terrible job in making up our room and... More

You have to love the history and overall presentation of the Ahwahnee. Certainly not roughing it in Yosemite, but at the same time a very "formal" rustic feel as all the rooms seem to be 1930's era fittings, plumbing and heating. The main attraction is the park itself so the price may seem steep, and it is. If you can... More

The Ahwahnee is clearly the premire property in Yosemite. I have stayed there more that 30 times over the last 25 years. Unfortunately some of their services now feel more like a Motel 6 that a near $500 hotel. There are some winners among the staff but unfortunalely some losers too. The dining room is now grossly overpriced and I... More

Yosemite is a spectacular national park, "it is one of those places that you should visit before you die". The park offers multiple options to stay, from one star to 5 stars hotel, if you want the best then you go to the Ahwahnee hotel. We were very pleased with the service, the room, the restaurant and social areas. We... More

We stayed for 3 nights after 1 night at the Wawona (which we also loved). From the minute we pulled up to unload our bags everyone was friendly, our room was beautiful (we stay in Hiltons, Marriotts and an occasional Four Seasons quite often, but prefer bed and breakfasts and smaller places for pleasure travel), and needless to say, the... I decided to treat myself to a night at the famous Ahwahnee after a day of hiking Upper Yosemite Falls (spectacular this time of year...I was completely alone the whole time!!) The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and I went straight up to my room anticipating a long shower and a comfy bed for the night. Was... More

I often use trip advisor before booking hotels but this is the first time i have been compelled to write a review. We decided to stay at the Ahwahnee for one night during our 3 week trip round California. I can't deny the location is spectacular as is the dining room. But for $500/night I expect to be treated as... More

Nothing can prepare you as you drive into Yosemite, the views are awe inspiring, so when we arrived at the Ahwahnee and walked down the dark, covered walkway to the reception we knew we were in for a treat. The room had a superb view onto the majestic rocks that surround the hotel. Although the rooms are slightly tired and... More
