Best accommodations with jaw-dropping vista of half-dome at Yosemite despite small rooms. Overpriced for the amenities provided, but location location location !!

In 2012 we visited the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite for the Chef's Holidays. This is not our first time at the Ahwahnee or at this event. This is always special and we so enjoy hearing from the chef's and tasting their wonderful samples. The final night feast is always a memorable evening, great food and wine along with the opportunity... More

My wife and I were at the Ahwahnee a week ago for two nights. Late April and May are the best time to go to Yosemite, because the water flow is at its peak, which means that the great waterfall show is at its peak. Yosemite was beautiful with warm but not hot days and green grass everywhere. We stayed... More

I’ve visited the Ahwahnee over 20 times in the last 10 years. During the last few visits, April 2012 and May 2012, the hotel is better than ever. The breathtaking great room has had chairs reupholstered etc; the patio near the restaurant has been freshened up (terrific place to sit and enjoy the complimentary afternoon tea and cookies); fresh new... Stunning historic property, grand impressive public areas and a location absolutely beyond compare. Rave reviews on the Dining Room meals as well, would highly recommend breakfast and/or dinner there. But the property condition and overall service levels are simply not up to par with the prices charged. Were it not for the hotel's location, these deterring aspects would decidedly make... More

I've been to Yosemite a number of times and never cease to be awed by the beauty and majesty of Yosemite. I've always tent camped-either my own tent or Camp Curry's tents, but this time I wanted to spend one night at the Ahwahnee; I wanted to experience the Yosemite that so many US presidents experience. What a fabulous nod... More

The Ahwahnee is worth seeing, spacious and historic, with great views. I do wonder why there are so few restrooms, among other things. Well, onto the restaurant. We had lunch there, and of course it is pricy but no worse than what you would pay in any upscale restaurant anywhere else and not as bad as some. The portions are... More

I just spent four nights at The Ahwahnee. Yes, it was really, really expensive. It was vey much worth it to have this experience at least once. Spending each evening sitting by the fireplace in the great lounge is so wonderful. The rooms are quite nice. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews on here. My... More

Let's be realistic. Options are limited in the valley. This is an historic inn resting on it's laurels. I am glad we stayed and overall had a pleasant experience. What is outside is why you come to Yosemite. It is somewhat of a bucket list stay, but simply not a place that draws you to return. Yosemite is absolutely amazing... More
