My boyfriend and I stayed here summer of 2005. We stayed for 2 nights and paid about $800 total + taxes, which it seems everyone paid about the same price to stay in this hotel . First of all, DO NOT expect the Ritz Carlton with that price. The rooms are a bit dated and small. It's not a modern... More

My husband and I stayed at The Ahwahnee for 2 nights in January 2006 for our 10th anniversary and we were very pleased with our visit. For those who say it isn't like the Four Seasons, I would say if you want to stay at the Four Seasons, go ahead, this is a totally different type of experience. The rustic... More

We have stayed at the Ahwahnee many times, including the Bracebridge dinner Christmas of 04. I can't tell you how disappointed we were on this trip, but I'll try. Upon arriving, the lobby was dirty and festooned with dead flowers. The windows were fingerprinted and dirty. The coffee maker in the room had left over coffee grounds from the previous... More

I'm so completely over the negative reviews at the Ahwahnee, as well as the comparisons of the Ahwahnee and other lodging in Yosemite to Motel 6 and other such lodging. First off - you're in a national park, and therefore should not expect glamour. However, what you get at the Ahwahnee is unlike anything you will get anywhere else in... More

It's difficult to give a place like the Ahwahnee a single score that is meant to apply to all facets of the establishment. There are many, many factors to be considered if you're paying about $400 a night. You would have to consider the physical condition of the room/cottage (not great), the environment (Yosemite park is the definition of natural... More

As a 5th generation Californian with over 60 visits to Yosemite in my lifetime, I'd never stayed at the Awahanee Hotel.I've always day tripped to Yosemite or spent a single night in a backpackers campground, leaving the next day for the high country. That somewhat changed this weekend as we visited Yosemite to celebrate the 40th birthday of a close... More

We stayed over Christmas and had a reasonably pleasant experience. Worth the money? Not really, but having just stayed in mid-town Manhattan we were prepared. The room was quite nice with a gorgeous view; staff was polite and helpful. Considering that the property is managed by monolithic (and mediocre) Delaware North, the experience was acceptable. Downsides: the bar is a... More

On October 17, having flown 5 hours and driven 7 to reach Yosemite, imagine my surprise when I was informed by the manager of the Ahwahnee that the printed confirmation in my hand, dated June 20, was invalid. The reservation company used by the Ahwahnee had cancelled the reservation the day after it was made (I suppose simultaneous with sending... More

Do not expect Expedia to book travel as promised or to stand behind its service. I booked a stay months in advance for my extended family at The Ahwahnee Hotel for October '05 with Expedia. Only when I called The Ahwahnee to confirm our reservations did I learn that Expedia could not book the type of rooms it had promised.... More

Since camping in Yosemite in November was out of the question for us, we decided to stay at the Ahwanhee. At $379/night, we expected more than what we got. We should have camped. Firstly, the lighting and decor of the place is tacky, at best. Flourescent bulbs are used throughout, killing any kind of warmth in any part of the... More
