I'll start by saying that the Ahwahnee is expensive. Almost everyone staying there complains about the price. Once you get past that little issue, we can talk about the hotel. The place is fabulous, quirks and all. Yes, the hotel only has one elevator for 6 floors. What can you expect from a hotel that was built in 1927? The... More

We were a bit hesitant of the steep $500/night pricetag here, but when a room opened up at the last minute for the first night of our Yosemite trip, we pounced on it. I'm so glad we did! Our experience started off on an extra high note when we were offered a complimentary upgrade to a room on the 5th... More

Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is old BUT if you're going to stay in a hotel in Yosemite, I'd say this is worth it. My husband and I went there for my birthday and we "splurged" on the Ahwahnee. The room is old and tired but they have done some renovations and updates. The lobby, the restaurant, and the... More

The classic room was comfortable and clean, execpt for the ants which quickly found the Milk Bone dog biscuits for our service dog. The bathroom was adaquate, with a tub shower, but not very large. The staff were all very friendly and did everything they could to make us feel valued. At $500/night I felt it was pricy given the... More

The hotel's saving grace is where is it located - this is why it can get away with providing poor quality service/rooms but charge very high prices. The room was small, tired and in need of a new bathroom and A/C system. The dinning room is grand but the meal was only fine - again priced above the quality of... More

We stayed 3 nights in this magnificent hotel and could not have been more please. Valet service is the best I have experienced. Our room was large with a 40" flat screen TV and a nice view. We asked for a quiet room and that is what we got. Food was outstanding and of course the scenary of Yosemite national... More

My family and I wen't to California for a week-long vacation. We managed to reserve the last room at the historical Ahwahnee Lodge in Yosemite National Park. Driving down 120 to the park we got a phone call from the lodge. They had overbooked. Naturally we were devasted, this was to be the high point of our trip. The manager... More

It was very difficult to find accomodations for a family of 5 and although this is a beautiful old hotel, this was not the most family friendly trip for us.

While the valet service, concierge, and front desk (not to mention the great views and setting) were great, it didn't make up for the small, noisy, stuffy room we had. The only way to control the temperature in the room was to open the windows, which let more noise in. And being near the elevator meant noise most of the... More

The common grounds and views are beautiful and stunning but the actual rooms could use a serious face-lift. My husband and I stayed here for one night in a room with 1 king bed at $500/night. The room was very small, old and in need of a fresh coat of paint- lots of scratches and nicks on the walls. The... More
