We knew it was overpriced and not worth it from reading the reviews, but we wanted to spend our last night there for the experience. When we made the reservation the only room available was a "feature" room, which has a balcony. This room was more expensive than the "classic" room but we splurged for one night. When we checked... I liked Yosemite, too. :) The hotel is huge, but cozy. Ritzy, but not stuffy. The staff seem to enjoy their jobs, which makes a big difference. The food is expensive, but delicious. The bed was magnificent and when it's time for a new one, I want my Ahwahnee bed. We had a corner room and could see a waterfall... More

The Ahwahnee Cottages ($500 per night) beautiful cottage in the woods...3 minute walk out the back door of the Hotel. Reservations a must for the dining room. $45 price fixed special for a 3 course dinner (Cesar Salad, 1/2 a free range specially prepared chicken, pie/ice cream). Another option is to buy food at the bar/restaurant off the lobby and... More

The location of the Ahwahnee is super. The lobby is pretty nice. But once we were shown to our cottage room, we were very disappointed. There was a stale, musty, almost rotting smell that seemed to come from the bathroom fan. There were cobwebs in our room. Hairs in the bathtub. Certainly not worth the high cost of the room.... More

For a night in one of the most spectacular locations in the world, $550 might seem reasonable, but given the utter incompetence of the staff it felt like a slap in the face. First off, the check-in process was chaotic, unfriendly and finally got us into our room way after the check-in time of 4pm (which is an unreasonably late... More

The three of us stayed two nights in a lovely double double room with large windows that was comfortable, quiet and had fabulous views. With the window open at night you could hear the waterfalls. Yosemite is spilling over this June with lots of waterfalls as this winter had record snow falls. Snow was still deep at Glacier Pt and... More

We stayed at the Ahwahne for one night. Although the place is beautifully set, and the central building decoration is indeed unique, nothing else justifies the outrageous prices. We would be nevertheless quite satisfied despite that, but the patronizing and even arrogant service was really in contrast to that. After a very long drive we arrive to the hotel located... More

We used miles for our airline tickets and points for the hotel in Napa so the cost of two nights at the Ahwahnee did not hurt as much as it could. Our room was very comfortable compared to other National Park lodges we have stayed at in our travels. Also it was the quietest room I have ever stayed in... More

We had seen a PBS special on national park hotels and we knew we had to go to the Ahwahnee in Yosemite National Park. It was crazed with tourists on check-in, however we soon found calm and comfort after all the tourista's left on the busses. The rooms were quaint and spacious and the beds a challenge for low center... More

My guess is that close to 90 percent of the people that enters the doors of the hotel are not guests, but people that's; - "just looking". Those "visitors" will never wake up to several mule-deers crossing the lawn at first light, and certainly not the black bear on their tail. In the background there was this waterfall down the...
