The hotel is beautifully appointed. Aside from the elegant room and common areas, you are located within the Valley but in a section with lawns and grounds and the ability to walk toward meadows, rivers and forest from the hotel as you walk toward the other areas of the valley. In short, the Ahwahnee is in a key location to... more

The Ahwahnee is an interesting building in a spectacular and unique location. However, the staff leave much to be desired, and during the day, the hotel is over-run by day tourists coming to see the building. The Lobby is very noisy, our room was not ready (we were told they were short staffed in housekeeping), we were told the dining... more

Ok, after reading all these reviews disparaging the Ahwahnee, I finally made my first visit last week. In a word; great! No, it's NOT a Four Seasons, NOT a Ritz Carlton, not even a Hyatt. (Think an historic old, fusty Sheraton in some middle size Midwestern city.) Also think your formerly wealthy, now elderly, spinster Aunt Martha. She may be... more

The Ahwahnee is on the higher end of our price range at more than $500 a night. It is remote and possibly constrained by environmental factors at the National Park which are reflected in the price but what the heck.. You will not forget your stay here. Go for it and enjoy the time. It is a beautiful building in... more

We stayed one night on the 3rd Floor and had an absolutely perfect view of Yosemite Falls from our window. Though the room itself was nothing special in terms of decor, it was spacious and comfortable, and the afore-mentioned view made it worth the price, in my opinion. Since we got to the hotel late, we didn't have dinner in... more

The Ahwahnee Hotel – We just stayed at the Ahwahnee Hotel during the last weekend in June (2010). We had stayed there a few times in the past, but never in peak season or with just a few days notice. The atmosphere and historical background of the hotel and dining room are really nice. It is a beautiful place with... more

We LOVE Yosemite and are drawn to return again and again . And have stayed at the Ahwahnee many times and everytime we concentrate on the granite cliffs and not the god awful room we are paying $500 at night for but this visit the Ahwahnee hit an all time new low. First we called ahead, as usual ,to beg... more

I wanted to stay at the Yosemite Lodge as a happy compromise because this hotel The Ahwahnee was very expensive but the Lodge was sold out. The room was small, without the view and the balcony, which I paid extra for it would have been unbearable. The screen door on the balcony was ripped so mosquitoes got in. The wooden... more

This is what you get when there is NO COMPETITION! We always stay at the finest hotels when we travel and I can honestly tell you that this is by far the WORST VALUE EVER ($521 w/tax per night). I would expect a room this bad at the cheapest inner-city hotel but at this price it was OBSCENE! Let me... more

This place is so overpriced it is shameful !! A small room with HVAC (80 degrees during the day) that did not work. Is there something wrong with a fan in a $450 a night room? One beat up slow old elevator for the entire building, old carpet throughout the hotel. Location location?? Yes, but compare this dump to say... more
