In spite of the many horrible reviews of the Ahwahnee Hotel, we decided to stay due to the location in the heart of Yosemite Valley. We were shockingly surprised at how truly wonderful the Ahwahnee Hotel experience is. Our room was wonderful with a glorious view of Yosemite Falls from our private balcony. The grounds are magnificent with many trees... more

We stayed at the Ahwahnee for 4 nights while attending a family wedding. The hotel is definitely 5 star from the valet, reception, housekeeping, bar, restaurant and catering staff to the roomy junior suite. The setting is breathtaking and the courtesy shuttle made it easy to explore some of the park, village and other accommodations. We ate our final dinner... more

I usually pick more luxury hotels or hotels that offer great scenery or location when I travel. I had already been to Canadian Rockies where the lodging is really first class so was matching my expectations to that of Ahwahnee Hotel. I read many mixed reviews about the Ahwahnee Hotel, and I think the biggest complaint is the high cost... more

I have been to Yosemite many times and this time wanted to stay at the Awahnee. It is definitely an older hotel in need of upgrades, but for the location it is worth it! Make sure to have dinner at least once in the big dining room! Excellent! more

I'm writing this review specifically for people who are skeptical about the Ahwahnee, which is a group I fell into before my visit. This is because my only other visit here was 25 years ago as a child, when the food in the Dining Room was inedible (overcooked, tough-as-leather beef) and the room decor consisted of bare lightbulbs and worn... more

Stayed two nights at one of the Ahwahnee cottages for my wedding and for the price I would not stay here again. I love to stay at quality rustic places but the Ahwahnee is definitely in need of an upgrade. I arranged two months prior to our visit to have chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to our room on a specific day/time.... more

The hotel was beautiful and steeped in history. We stayed only one night because it is more expensive than we normally spend. But we enjoyed it very much. It was winter so there was a warm and inviting fire in the huge fireplace in the main lounge area. The room itself was "just a room". However, the view out the... more

My wife and I spent two nights in a cottage at the Ahwahnee on our honeymoon. Whilst we had read a number of fairly critical reviews of the hotel in particular, we thought it was worth a try. Though it wasn't cheap, our stay was great - the cottage was very clean and compact, the breakfast (which was included in... more

We spent one night at the Ahwahnee as part of a 4-day trip to Yosemite. Despite the outrageous cost ($500/night), it's definitely worth spending at least one night here for the historical significance and location. While it's an old hotel, our room was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed and large flat screen TV. We had requested a corner... more

We stayed at the Ahwahnee with some trepidation having read all the reviews on here which suggested that while the location is great, and the hotel is an attraction in itself - the rooms would be awful. We were very pleasantly surprised, the rooms are large and comfortable, bathrooms are great. There was a musty smell if you left your... more
