All we heard was what a great place this was before we arrived at Yosemite. The drive to Yosemite from Lake Tahoe was very long, especially after we found out we had driven a few hours toward 120W just to find out that it was closed. (Do NOT trust the Yosemite travel hotline, a number that was provided to me... More

This hotel is living off it's past reputation and totally ignores the constructive criticism listed by the dozen in these reviews. My husband and I paid $7.56 for 'tea'. We were presented with two 'cafe latte' mugs filled with tepid water; offered a tea bag each to dunk into it and a small jug of milk. It was the most... More

Clear is that the location and the setting from this hotel building is stunning. It shows a grandeur and castle feeling. At the same time it is a hotel which is assured of a constant inflow of new tourists arriving in this hotel. This hotel is kind of generating a personnel attitude which makes them untouchable. And this attitide degrades... More

My husband and I, and our two teenaged sons just got back from a stay at the Ahwahnee. I recommend the Ahwahnee with the caveat that you must adjust your expectations. First of all,I want to say that we fell in love with this (built in 1927), historic hotel. It is grand, the setting in awesome, surrounded by natural beauty... More

We stayed at the Ahwahnee as a family of four on a 3 week trip across California. We struggled to find accommodation that fitted our exacting standard and ended up booking into the Ahwahnee based on a family recommendation. The room we got was far too small for the four of us, we have two 9 year olds. It has... More

We are a California couple that frequently travels to Yosemite in spite of the lack of healthy, clean lodging because we are in awe of the park's beauty. We have stayed at least 10 times at the magnificent and moldy Ahwahnee . Here my hints to help you receive the least offensive room: Call the front desk a day before... More

We had our wedding reception here in the solarium, 32 years ago come this October. We come back to this property almost annually with our wine group for the Vitner's Holidays. It is the "Grand Dame" of any west coast hotel! We never tire of coming back!

The location is great but the hotel is run down and the service is poor. We had booked months in advance but nevertheless got a room without any kind of view (under an entrance roof). I realize that the the hotel is old, but that is not an excuse for poor maintenance and lack of cleanliness (dust everywhere). The restaurant... More

Let me start by saying that I love old, historic hotels, so I was really looking forward to my stay at the Ahwahnee. The hotel itself is just as fantastic as advertised, but the staff is definitely in need of training! The history of the place is that it was built as a grand hotel for the 1920's wealthy traveler.... More
