After reading the mixed reviews, I was a little concerned about our stay, but we were delighted with the Ahwahnee. Contrary to some reviews, we found the hotel to be meticulously preserved and maintained. It maintains all of the charm and grandeur that you would expect from a luxury hotel built in 1927. The public areas were beautiful, and we... more

Make sure to see if your room is available when you get there even if check in is at 4pm; Ours was ready at 1pm whiich was a plus. Ask for turn down service at noon- you will get some goodies on your bed. If it is a special occasion let the front desk know, you might get a little... more

What could and should be a 5-star hotel in a 6-star location is not because the attention to detail, the maintainance of the property, the poor F&B service, and given the room rate charged, the value for money just isn't there. Location wise, it's incredible, Historically significant, which makes it even more sad that it is not maintained to the... more

We just stayed at the Awhanhee hotel - a family of 3 people -, a historic landmark at the Yosemite Valley. Unfortunately I have to tell you, that it is extremely badly run. Even though the location and the buildings would be wonderful - and the price is according to Four Seasons standards -, the front desk is not professional... more

This hotel is interesting to walk through, but at $500 per night it is very overpriced. It is basically a 2.5 star hotel with chocolates on the pillows and receptionists in pinstripe vests. It is only fairly clean and has a worn look, with rusty headboards and loose caulking in the very basic bathroom. Also, be aware of their exorbitant... more

We just stayed here four nights for part of our honeymoon and thought that it failed to live up to it's reputation. We were disappointed when we got there to learn that they had overbooked, and we were stuck with a room with two double beds instead of a king. They gave us a discount and moved us to another... more

The main hotel definitely has a "The Shining" vibe but it isn't overtly creepy. Everything about it is gorgeous. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but I'm glad that I did once in my life. more

After visiting Yosemite for many years our goal was always to stay in the Ahwahnee. We managed this during 2007 and our stay I would rate as being fantastic. The rooms were 'atmospheric', clean and authentic. Staff are polite and professional. The food, especially dinner, is top class, and is a 'must' experience. After a day in the mountains to... more

Was there for a wedding. Arrived at 2:30 and despite the fact their checkout is noon our room had still not been vacated. They gave us an alternate room with a view of the loading dock, lovely. While the hotel is historic that does not excuse the lack of maintenance and repairs, particularly at rates in excess of $500. The... more

The Ahwahnee is truly the icing on the cake of Yosemite. The service is superb, & the rooms are generously sized & graciously appointed. Get a corner room if you can. We booked a B&B option which was well worth the money as we ate just two meals per day given the generous breakfast. Dinners at the Ahwahnee are both... more
