I spent my 30th birthday here and was pleased with the whole experience. Good service. Rooms are basic but historic in nature. The location and views are beyond spectacular. I was there in early December so the Christmas decorations were up which were beautiful. I love being there in winter with the all the fire places lit. The dining room... More

This is a beautiful old lodge located in a beautiful setting. I encourage Yosemite visitors to visit the lodge, possibly have lunch or dinner there, visit the gift shop, walk the grounds etc. The guest rooms are pricey -- $500+ per night. If you are well off financially, then definitely stay there! If you are on a budget, you should... More

From the outside it appears so grand. When entering the public areas you can imagine what it was like it its hay-days. Still, though it is something special to dine there in its grand dining room, still to this day. But when you go to your room, you fell you are at motel-6. And a run down one at best.... More

This is the perfect place to stay while in Yosemite. It is a bit of tranquility in the midst of crowds. The cottages are especially private, quiet and very romantic! You need to make reservations a year in advance, but they can be cancelled with a full refund 48 hours prior. You can't lose!

This was a special weekend with friends. We stayed at the Ahwahnee and had most meals there with few options in winter. I had not been for many years and my memory of the hotel and dining room was that it seemed so grand and elegant. It is still grand, but a little shabby. Even the curtains were worn and... More

A very poor reception, a swiming pool that looks like a bathetub, rooms that are in badly need of re decoration, a beautiful restaurant with such a view, a great breakfeast with kind waiters, but a silly receptionist a the restaurant speaking of dress code when she was dressed like a provincial maid of pre war time and with out... Wow where do I begin? We arrive around 2:30... the maid is making up our room now and the room will be ready within the next 30 minutes... Ok fine sure, we'll go grab a bite to eat and then come back. 3:30 well Sir we don't guarantee your room until 4PM and the maid is making up your room... More

The Last Homely House (Tolkien reference) aka The Ahwahnee soon to be known as The Majestic Yosemite Hotel, is really about the ambience, not the name. There're few things better than curling up on a cozy sofa or chair in front of one of the grand fireplaces with a good book and a hot beverage after a day of hiking.... More

Stayed here for the first time this November for the Annual Vintners Holiday. Rooms are vintage, part of the charm, but would ask for more of a view next time. Great event, great food. Will come again.

Stayed at the Ahwahnee in Jan 2016 on our honeymoon for 5 nights whilst visiting Yosemite national park. The good: the building is beautiful and the location is stunning. The front desk manager was helpful and helped us with our request. The rooms were very nice and if you can get one with a balcony you will some stunning views.... More
