Lets get one thing straight: this is not a luxury hotel. I awoke to frigid morning temperatures (30 - 40 degrees), woke in the middle of the night to stoke a wood fire stove, walked through frost and mud to use the restroom. . . and enjoyed myself capitally! I stayed in a one bed Rough Rider cabin in mid... More

This review is for the Roosevelt Lodge Roughrider cabins, which have one or two double beds and no bath. Also at this location are the Frontier cabins, which do have a private bath. This was my first experience staying in a Roughrider cabin since I was a child. That was a long time ago and they haven't changed much. I... More

This was by far my favorite accommodations during our week long Yellowstone trip. We arrived at exactly check in time (4 pm) so we were able to choose our own cabin. We wanted something as remote as possible so we choose an end cabin with a creek as our backyard. It was perfect! The rooms were spacious with three Queen... More

The cabins were exceptionally clean and had ample room a small family if some use the floor to sleep. The wood stove helps with chilly mornings, but beware if you aren't experienced in using one, they can get hot really fast... be sure to have dinner at the lodge and take in the steak dinner with the horse drawn wagons... One of the main reasons that my wife and I returned to Yellowstone was to stay at Roosevelt Lodge in order to enjoy some peace and quiet and to be close to the Lamar Valley. I had reservations for a Frontier Cabin over a year in advance of our July 2014 visit (this is a key to get the dates... More

The lodging at Roosevelt is not for the fancy and frilly. These are cabins with wood floors and wood burning fireplaces, in the calm of Yellowstone. We go every year, and choose a ROUGHRIDER cabin ( without bath or sink) and love every minute of it. Many times you will see black bears roaming right through the grounds. The food... More

Yellowstone is a gorgeous national treasure but has crowds commensurate with its beauty so it can be hard to feel like you're in a wilderness park in most of the lodging. However, Roosevelt Lodge is an exception. The lodge is in the northeast corner of the park, far from the tour buses at Old Faithful. Most of the cabins rely... More

It feels somewhat like I'm committing sacrilege by being one of the few reviewers who rate this cabin as average, but for a number of reasons, we couldn't rate it higher. Of the three Frontier cabins where we stayed during our ten days in Yellowstone, this was the smallest. It probably had the most attractive rustic-chic decor, but there were... More

After reading OhioHick's 2011 trip report, I added two nights at the Roosevelt area to my plans for visiting Yellowstone. That turned out to be a great decision. We enjoyed a two-night stay in a frontier cabin (#77). The standalone cabins are cute, comfortable, and functional. Two double beds are comfortable enough for a good sleep. The old fashion sink... This is a great place to stay. The cabins are very fun and the set up is great with the wood stove. My only complaint is that we were given a 6 person room for just 2 people and it was very hard to keep it warm with the tiny wood stove. I'd recommend making sure you get the smallest... More
