One of the main reasons that my wife and I returned to Yellowstone was to stay at Roosevelt Lodge in order to enjoy some peace and quiet and to be close to the Lamar Valley. I had reservations for a Frontier Cabin over a year in advance of our July 2014 visit (this is a key to get the dates... More

The lodging at Roosevelt is not for the fancy and frilly. These are cabins with wood floors and wood burning fireplaces, in the calm of Yellowstone. We go every year, and choose a ROUGHRIDER cabin ( without bath or sink) and love every minute of it. Many times you will see black bears roaming right through the grounds. The food... More

Yellowstone is a gorgeous national treasure but has crowds commensurate with its beauty so it can be hard to feel like you're in a wilderness park in most of the lodging. However, Roosevelt Lodge is an exception. The lodge is in the northeast corner of the park, far from the tour buses at Old Faithful. Most of the cabins rely... More

It feels somewhat like I'm committing sacrilege by being one of the few reviewers who rate this cabin as average, but for a number of reasons, we couldn't rate it higher. Of the three Frontier cabins where we stayed during our ten days in Yellowstone, this was the smallest. It probably had the most attractive rustic-chic decor, but there were... More

After reading OhioHick's 2011 trip report, I added two nights at the Roosevelt area to my plans for visiting Yellowstone. That turned out to be a great decision. We enjoyed a two-night stay in a frontier cabin (#77). The standalone cabins are cute, comfortable, and functional. Two double beds are comfortable enough for a good sleep. The old fashion sink... This is a great place to stay. The cabins are very fun and the set up is great with the wood stove. My only complaint is that we were given a 6 person room for just 2 people and it was very hard to keep it warm with the tiny wood stove. I'd recommend making sure you get the smallest... More

We stayed here Sep 2013 for a 5-day/4-night program hosted by the Yellowstone Association. Cabins are basic. Shower facilities are nearby. Bring flashlight to avoid surprises. Stove heat kept us warm enough; we brought blankets as suggested by YA. Rendezvous program was great. Too much good food, variety of program options each day, evening talks/presentations, dedicated staff and volunteers. Highly... More

We stayed one night in a Roosevelt Roughrider Cabin. It was small, but very cozy. The wood burning stove was plenty of heat for a chilly night. Only bad thing was having to get up to put more wood in the stove during the night. Bathrooms are located nearby and were clean. Had shampoo, conditioner, and soap in each shower.... More

We're city people and we're not used to camping, so we were concerned about staying in a cabin with shared bath and shower. After staying there, I have no reservations staying there again. The bathroom and shower with warm water were clean and nearby. The cabin were well furnished and had everything one find in a hotel room except for... More

If you want to get away from the crowds, feel closer to the wildlife and scenery but don't want to rough it too much the Frontier Cabins at Roosevelt are perfect. They are hard to come by, so book early, as the majority of cabins here are the rough rider type without a private bath. Frontier Cabins are probably best... More
