Until last June none of my siblings had ever been to Wyoming. They asked, "what do you do out there?" Finally my sister and her family came from Michigan and we showed them. To highlight what is possible, I rented for them and for my family two "rough rider" cabins and a horseback ride to pleasant valley for a steak... More

Roosevelt cabins with bathrooms need to be booked a year in advance if you care about a private bath/toilet. Otherwise, you might get a roosevelt roughrider cabin which does not have a bathroom. You have to walk to a nearby public facility. Book in advance and block the rooms, even if you cancel 2 days before you are supposed to... More

Stayed here for 1 night in early July in a Frontier cabin with 2 double beds with its own bathroom. These are a little more expensive than the Roughrider cabins which have the shared baths, but worth it if you want the convenience. This was our last stop in Yellowstone NP after having spent the previous 4 nights in Canyon... More

Some people like to come to a wilderness area and have all the comforts. This is not the place to do that. This is a place that can give you a tiny taste of what it is and was like in the real west. Having grown up near Yellowstone and having taken MANY wonderful trips to the park and nearby... More

Lets get one thing straight: this is not a luxury hotel. I awoke to frigid morning temperatures (30 - 40 degrees), woke in the middle of the night to stoke a wood fire stove, walked through frost and mud to use the restroom. . . and enjoyed myself capitally! I stayed in a one bed Rough Rider cabin in mid... More

This review is for the Roosevelt Lodge Roughrider cabins, which have one or two double beds and no bath. Also at this location are the Frontier cabins, which do have a private bath. This was my first experience staying in a Roughrider cabin since I was a child. That was a long time ago and they haven't changed much. I... More

This was by far my favorite accommodations during our week long Yellowstone trip. We arrived at exactly check in time (4 pm) so we were able to choose our own cabin. We wanted something as remote as possible so we choose an end cabin with a creek as our backyard. It was perfect! The rooms were spacious with three Queen... More

The cabins were exceptionally clean and had ample room a small family if some use the floor to sleep. The wood stove helps with chilly mornings, but beware if you aren't experienced in using one, they can get hot really fast... be sure to have dinner at the lodge and take in the steak dinner with the horse drawn wagons... One of the main reasons that my wife and I returned to Yellowstone was to stay at Roosevelt Lodge in order to enjoy some peace and quiet and to be close to the Lamar Valley. I had reservations for a Frontier Cabin over a year in advance of our July 2014 visit (this is a key to get the dates... More

The lodging at Roosevelt is not for the fancy and frilly. These are cabins with wood floors and wood burning fireplaces, in the calm of Yellowstone. We go every year, and choose a ROUGHRIDER cabin ( without bath or sink) and love every minute of it. Many times you will see black bears roaming right through the grounds. The food... More
