Madison Campground is one of the first campgrounds you run into when you enter Yellowstone Park from the west entrance. It's quite central since its close to the crossroads leading north, west (and east). A good spot to start your exploring from. Personally I expected the campground to be a bit more 'foresty'. The lots are moderately spacious, but you... More

This is a very large campground both in the number of spaces available and in the size of each space. Suitable for even the largest of tents. However, the lack of shower facilities on-site means you will have to drive at least half an hour to the closest facility. This means unfortunately it's not realistic to stay more than a... More

This is a very large campground with tents and rvs mixed together. We were tent camping and had a very large site. No cell phone reception which made it tricky meeting up with people staying in West Yellowstone. A bulletin board with note paper was helpful and necessary! There are flush toilets and soap and hand dryers. You can stroll... More

This was not the campground we originally booked, but were redirected here because our tent was supposedly too big (3 person tent). First night we were next to a highway -very noisy. We changed sites for the rest of the stay-3 more nights. No showers or hot water - had to drive 15 miles for a shower. A herd of... More

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well kept campsites. Plenty of space. Flush toilets were a huge plus!! I was nervous booking as this one had some mixed reviews, but it did not disappoint. Very convenient location! We were at Old Faithful by 8:00. Beat the crowds! We saw several buffalo roaming along the river adjacent to the campground.

This is one of the well maintained campsites. It has a flush toilet and a dishwashing basin(cleaned and restocked with utilities every morning) and multiple food storage vaults that are bear safe. The nearest showers are at old faithful, grant village, and canyon village, depending on which time of the year you are going. We took a long shower at... More

Beautiful location, great trees, some pull through sites, many back-in. We arrived in a 35 ft Class A RV and were directed to spot A30, a drive through with picnic table and fire pit. Wood/kindling is available for sale at reception and comes with matches. Expensive though! Great/clean/modern/heated bathroom facilities with flush toilets. No shower. No cell coverage. You have... Canadian tourists on our first visit to this wonderful park. We arrived from the western entrance just three days after the seasonal opening and secured a site for our small trailer in this "no reservation" campground. We stayed two nights. Clean, very quiet and relatively private. Cold water only, clean and warm washrooms during the early season. We found Madison... More

This is the first major campground when you enter from the West, it is very popular so you will need to book in advance or arrive very early. Facilities were decent. Check-in staff were helpful. Sites were average size and quite open to each other but we had a good experience.

We camped three nights at Madison Campground during our 11 day Yellowstone stay. This is a great location to explore the Park. There is much to do and see both north and south of Madison junction. Next time we will stay at least one more day on this side of the park. There are no hookups and no showers here,... More
