Hot Springs is off the Mt Rushmore beaten path. The Smith Fargo Suites is a wonderful place to stay in this quite town on the southern edge of the black hills. We stayed in the Mission suite three nights. The suite has a full size sitting room, separate room with a queen size bed, and around the corner, a room... More

Smith Fargo Suites is a renovated, historic tenement house that has been converted into a group of "eccentric," period, bed and breakfast suites. The owners, Dick and Liz, 80 plus year-old youngsters, have done an outstanding job of renovating the building and the suites are delightfully uncommon in all respects. Each suite is decorated with a theme motif and the... More

For a getaway weekend my husband and I picked the Oriental Suite and enjoyed all the beautiful Asian furnishings and amenities in the room as well as the food in the community kitchen. Liz also gave us a tour of all the other rooms that were amazingly decorated also, especially the wonderful rock walls in the Mission and Cowboy Suites!... More

For value for money, I give it a 5 star. Dick and Liz Smith were so hospitable and welcoming. They were so sweet to find toys for our little one and she was just over the moon. We stayed at the miner's suite, it was bigger than I had expected. It's a king size bed in a room and a... More

We stopped here after riding the Mickelson Trail to drag our trip out for another day. The rooms were very original, nicely done! You have to see it to believe it. We had the Miner's Suite. The price was very good. The bathroom was awesome! The place comes with a giant TV with cable, a full very nice bathroom, separate... More

I usually only review a B&B if they were really bad or really good, so I had to comment on Smith Fargo Suites. The place is gorgeous, and really, really comfortable. An old building can have poor air-conditioning or tiny, old baths. Not Smith Fargo. Each bedroom has both ac and a ceiling fan. The baths are large, and each... More

Thanks to other reviews here, we knew that you have to get the keys in the antique store right at the corner of the building and you should arrive during office hours. After we go our keys, Dick showed us our suite (the miners suite) which was very spacious and had a great decor. We enjoyed our stay very much... More

Staying at this hotel was unsatisfactory. On the night of our arrival - at 6pm, so not terribly late - we found the doors of the hotel and the adjoining antique store locked. We tried to call the number listed on the window, to no avail. After considering what to do (move to a different hotel?), my wife found our... More

You get to the place and the first thing you see is this junk shop and you go in and inquire as to the location of Smith Fargo Suites and the proprietress this is it and you look around and begin to wonder what have we gotten ourselves into? Then she (Liz) gets his (Dick's) attention and he escourtes you... More

These suites are located above an antique store on the main street in Hot Springs. Parking is on either side of the street. This is an interesting set-up, with the suites on either ends of a hallway, and a common kitchen/dining area. We had the Victorian Suite and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom (shower only, no tub) was beautifully... More
