Staying at the Baer House Inn was one of the highlights of a six-month road trip with my children. Doug welcomed us into his wonderful home, helped us with sighseeing plans, took time to speak with us and teach the children how to fold napkins, treated us to delicious breakfasts, handed us ice-cold water bottles on our way out the... more

My wife and I took visiting Friends (from Tennessee) to Vicksburg from Lake Charles, Louisiana to visit the city and tour the Battlefield. The stay was refreshing, relaxing and very comfortable. Best sleep I've had in years! But it was the Host that made our stay perfect. They are most gracious. When we left, they made us feel like it... more

Its wonderful to know that this gem of a house has been restored and is being lovingly cared for, especially after the history of its original family - do ask, it's an interesting and entertaining story - worthy of a novel. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the downtown shopping strip and near the town museum -... more

I spent two nights here visiting the Vicksburg National Park and antebellum homes. Kathy, the Inn keeper, gave 150% percent. I have celiac disease so she bought gluten free pancake mix to offer me variety for breakfast. They were the best gf pancakes that I ever had. It is a very nice place. The first floor with the carved wood... more

Our girls trip brought us to this historic home with the colorful past. We were met by Kathy the new Inn Keeper who was very pleasant and showed us our rooms: Pineapple and Rhett. The rooms were clean and airy but with one caveat. The Pineapple room is painted yellow and is on the second story balcony on the street... more

We stayed at Baer House for a short vacation to Vicksburg Battle site. We loved the house, and the owner, Doug, gave us the history of the house and Vicksburg, suggestions of places for supper( all good) and provided excellent morning breakfasts. We had just the right amount of attention, ours needs were met but we were not intruded upon.... more

We stayed in the Bonnie Blue room for three nights and were enchanted. The room and private bath were spotless. Doug is the perfect host/ owner--there and a fascinating conversationalist if you need him, nearly invisible if you don't. He also tells a terrific story about the history of Baer House...and cooks up a tasty breakfast. He's a live-in owner,... more
