We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Great Valley House. Hosts were friendly, helpful, personable, and a wealth of knowledge. They have a great respect for the history of the home and the surrounding area, as evidenced in every corner of the home, via antique overload. In fact, we were told that this is the oldest home in... More

The Great Valley House is an wonderful and interesting place to stay while visiting Valley Forge National Park. Our innkeeper, Pattye, was very friendly and hospitable and was prepared to give us so much information on the area - everything from directions to points of interest to recommendations for great restaurants. Guest rooms, although quirky, are quite large. Breakfast was... More

The Great Valley House was a historic place to stay. One of the oldest houses in PA built around 1671 and packed full of antiques, quilts and interesting artifacts. The owner Pattye Benson is extremely knowledgeable about the property and also the area. Breakfasts were delightful and always included good conversations. The John Wilson Room was spacious as was the... More

I had read the bad reviews about this place on TripAdvisor, so I knew it would be not-so-hot. But, I was traveling to that area during the U.S. Open Golf Tournament, which was in the same area, so, there were no other rooms available! I took the chance. It is an old, old house, and has "the bones" to be... More

We stayed at this B&B in May 2012. Our first encounter with Pattye was not pleasant: there was a problem with the reservation and the number of rooms we had requested and we ended up paying for all the rooms, but the home seemed charming enough to make the best of the situation. Sadly, the home's charms could not compensate... More

We had a great time here. The hostess, Pattye was friendly and helpful in pointing us toward a place for dinner. Our room was spacious, comfy, and clean with plenty of towels. It was a treat to be able to spend the night in a house with that much history! Breakfast was divine - a colonial recipe, no less -... More

While I found Pattye to be most engaging, the home itself is downright dirty. I understand that keeping a 17th century home is more difficult than a modern dwelling, however, cleaning even once a year would tremendously benefit this place. I actually stayed here a few times because it was convenient and quiet. On one occasion the shower was not... More

As others have mentioned. This is a creepy unclean house with a very strange hostess. The breakfast food was terrible. We left and went out to a diner. We had paid for two days so we had two nights of poor sleep on a tired bed and dusty and unclean conditions. The movie "Misery" comes to mind. Avoid.

We were in the area for a family funeral, and try to stay in a B&B whenever possible. The location was very convenient to where we had to be, and I was happy to get a room, and an upgrade to a private bath. The home is lovely, historic (breakfast is served in the 1690's original kitchen!), well cared for... More

How often can you stay in an almost medieval house in the US? This inn, built in 1690, is wonderful. Not tarted-up, not sterilized, but homey and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the owner was friendly and informative (she was extra nice to my partner's son). We really had a great time, and it's an awesome period place to stay... More
